Hi everyone, I am about to replace the struts and shocks on my 03' C 240 4matic. I noticed that Mercedes has a special compressing tool for the springs. Does anyone know if this style of compressor would work also?

Cruel, how are you using it on the front struts?

You cant, it works on the rear only since the spring is seperated from the strut ,for front struts i use this tool:

I just changed struts trying both a compressor like the last picture and a floor mounted unit that would be like the Harbor Freight compressor in a stand. Each would grab three coils like the last picture, but that leaves some pressure in the spring. I couldn't push the top bearing down enough to start the little retaining nut until I clamped three coils of the spring in the floor stand and then added the two piece compressor pulling down the top spring cap. Looked pretty scary, but it worked.
This was for a 2002 C230k coupe with sport suspension, three red dots on the spring.
