c220 cdi
noise when letting off the gas pedal
hi,
the car is a C200 CDI with auto. transmission.
when driving at low speed (car is on 1st or 2nd gear), and letting off the gas pedal at once, i can hear a weird noise coming from the engine bay (it sounds like the lower engine area but i'm not sure). the sound is like the sound when you rubbing both palms together hard and quickly. once the gas pedal released, the sound lasts for a 1-2 seconds - like a two components rubbing against each other.
please assist. the car runs perfectly but this sound is driving me insane
thanks.

It's not easy to identify root cause over the internet for these kinds of noises.
You need to go thru various components and eliminate each component.
Does the noise go away when you move the gear selector to Neutral while the car is in motion? Try that.
