05 C230 Bad Noise. Help!
Hello,
Here is a link to the noise I just started getting.
It happens only sometimes and only when going from park to drive. Once I start moving the noise is gone. I also noticed a weird noise that I haven't heard before when I started the car (the car also jolts a little bit which it never did before). If I let my engine idle for 1-2 minutes before putting into drive the noise does not happen as often. Today I also hear it briefly when I had to stop at a stop sign. But again, it doesn't happen every time and this is the first time I've heard it when I was actually on the road. It also sometimes happens when I turn on my A/C.
I first noticed this while on a road trip. I drove about 650 miles with no issues, then the following morning the noise started and I got the "Battery/Alternator Go To Shop" notification on my dashboard. I turned off the car, turned it back on a few times and it would not go away. I drove to the nearest shop to have them look at it but it did not make the noise anymore so the mechanic had no idea. He checked the battery and it was charging. I have not received any check engine light nor the Battery/Alternator message since. When this initially happened the noise was happening when I was in park.
I am taking it to the shop ASAP (Next Tuesday) but I still need to drive to work. Any recommendations? Is it safe to drive if I just let the engine idle a little bit before driving? Or should I not drive at all? No weird or additional noises can be heard when the car is moving.
Thanks!

Without looking at the video , i recommend getting new tender pully aka tensioner to solve the knocking sound when car in drive and ac on. For the alternator visit workshop its telling you that something is wrong with the alternator the msg will pop up again sometime soon before the car dies on you , check the alternator regulator most of the times problem solved when its replaced.

I had the same problem. Noise would happen during idle in park or if I stopped in drive. Noise would slowly go away after a few minutes of idle. I got the alternator looked at and a guy I knew fixed it. No problems afterwards
