Question Installed new rear SAM, fuel gauge stooped working :(

Hey guys !

I've recently had intermittent errors about burnt bulbt, randomly flashing in the tail lights and license plate bulbs, etc..

after checking all the wiring i decided it was a bad rear SAM,

i bought a used one from another W203 model, but same HW/SW versions, installed it yesterday, and all the issues with the lights were fixed !

however, the fuel gauge is now stuck at empty, some research and some posts here say that filling the gas tank would make the issue go away, this is my second day now and the issue hasn't gone ..

I also noticed one minor thing too, the car automatically locks the doors when i start driving as usual, but now when i stop and take out the key, it no longer unlocks like it used do too, i have to manually do it.

any tips on where to look ? all the fuses/relays are intact and no signs of damage/water on the SAM, any tips on where to look ? or should i just return it and find another one ?

any tips appreciated !

I have read that when you swap out a SAM, it needs to be reprogrammed to your car. On another note, maybe the CAN got tripped. I had an issue very recently where, after wiring in my radar detector and a usb charging cable, my entire instrument cluster went out. I took it to an indy. They reset the ICU & everything went back to normal.

Either way, sounds like you're in order for a trip to either the dealership or an independent with a STAR.

As a last resort, you can try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes to see if the glitch resets itself. I think it's rather unlikely but it appears to have worked for a few people.
