Angry C230k no crank, jump starter relay and turns over

Hi there, I'm new to the Mercedes world of cars. I picked up nice c230 kompressor 6 speed the other day knowing that the guy could not get it started. I figured I'm pretty mechanically inclined and would take a gamble on it, so I bought it. Now I want to pull my hair out.

His story was that he was driving and ran out of gas, limped it to the gas station, put gas in it and went to leave and there was nothing when you turned the key.

Any ways now that I have it, I found a receipt in the glove box that the front SAM was replaced last year and that an srs wire by the passengers seat was broke an was also fixed.

So now that I've got into working on it I have two keys and neither will lock/unlock/trunk or start the car. The battery is good and was tested, both keys turn all the way to the start position just nothing happens other than the fan comes on high. All other electronics come on as they should. There is an aftermarket radio in the car that the previous guy said he had put in. (Maybe a security issue) Now if I jump the starter relay the car will turn over but there is no spark. So I'm thinking something is not communicating. I'm thinking a new eis, but would that one be bad if it lets the key turn all the way?

My question is what do I do next with out dumping a ton of money into this car to get it running? Any help would be great.

Regarding locking----before you wet your pants, first read the manuals central locking system or search the system before you start to further confuse yourself!!

Regarding starting---assuming you are correct and you can move the key to the right and no start, it means that the EIS\key accept one another and then tells the front SAM to energize circuit 15 and 15R which is required for starter to receive voltage---that aint happening therefore I would check both relays(however it my opinion that you are way over your head here--take the car to someone responsible)

Nothing is visibly wrong such as wire broke disconnected, battery and everything test good, fuses are all good in all three fuse boxes, swapped like relays and still nothing.

As far as the keys not unlocking/lock/trunk the car doesn't have a manual with it and only thing I can find on these forums is hold the buttons down for 6 secs, or leave in the on position for like 5 mins, still neither works

What are my options as to getting it powered up? New SAM? EIS? Or just say hell with it and take it to the dealer and get raped, or just part it out?

What you needed from the beginning is a quick test to determine the fault. I would do that before I spent a dime on anything said here, however it ain't the EIS!!

I'm open to suggestions on other tests to narrow it down. The starter, starter solenoid, starter relay, eis, battery are all ok, so is my problem gonna be in the rear SAM or in the front SAM? And where and what can I test to rule out either one?

First step is a short test and work from fault codes.
See if you have communication with ME2.8
Guessing from your description. It won't be EIS nor Rear Sam. Pull out the wiring diagrams and start checking power supplies to ME2.8. The clue I told you already. Fan running indicates no PWM signal from ME to suction fan.
