New C300 Tire Pressure Sensor Missing
Hi Everyone,
I got a 2015 C300 little over a month ago. Today, while I was driving I got a message saying the tire pressure sensor was missing. When I go to the tire pressure menu, it does not display the pressure for the right rear side tire.
I am not sure why this would happen. I've been searching all over the internet. Possible issues I could come up with
1) Sensor dying - But this is a new car!
2) Sensor battery dying - Again, new car!
3) Change in temperature - Likely, as it was around 95-100 F . But I dont know how to fix it now.
I did a little digging into how the sensor fits into the tire, it seems it can't just fall off. The pressure for the other tires were also a little higher (42psi) but I need to check it once the tires are cold. Does anyone have any idea what I could do at this point?

It's rare, but I have seen the TPMS sensors going bad on new cars. Good thing you're under warranty because those little contraptions are not cheap!

Just want to post an update here. It seems it may have been due to the heat. It has been very warm for the past couple of days (100F). The warning light went away when I drove today. It was able to detect the tire pressures correctly.
Should I still go to the dealer for the checkup? Or should I wait to see if this happens again.

If I were you, I'd take it in anyway.
When you're on the road for a sustained period of time, your tires are going to heat up to considerably more than 100* - the TPMS should not fail due to temperature. More telling is that your other sensors did not. I have never heard of anyone whose sensors stopped working when ambient temp exceeded 100* (in the summers, I travel with my family in our 4Runner to a town where temps often hit 100 - 110*, sometimes reaching 120* - we have never had a TPMS warning).
Best you have that corrected while you're still under warranty. However, if it's not malfunctioning when you take it in, they'll likely tell you there's nothing wrong with it.

Thanks for your reply. I will talk to the dealership to see if they would check this for me. But like you said, I dont think they'll do much as there is no malfunction now.
Anyhow, thanks for the replies folks!
