A/C quit yesterday

I'm hoping this wasn't a warning shot across the bow, but about 5 minutes into a trip home, my A/C simply shut off yesterday. It was set to auto, (2 zone analog controls) fan was running full speed and blowing ice cold air. I poked the Auto button again, it switched on for about 30 seconds and then back off. A subsequent jab yielded an on-off cycle of the LED, but it didn't stay on long enough for the fan to start. I used the manual fan control after that, and it worked normally. Later in the day, set it back to Auto and no issues. Poor connection somewhere, failing control module or sensor? No trouble codes appeared on the dash display. This car had many visits to the dealer while under warranty for electrical issues with the stereo, sunroof and cruise control, but has run with no problems at all for almost 10 years and 83k miles. One battery, one set of tires, one set of brakes.

The bad news is that there are no AC self diagnostics on that model, plus AC fault codes do not show up on the dash nor can they be read by the standard OBD reader----you either find someone with a copy of DAS\Xentry or it's off to the dealer who will use DAS Xentry to determine the fault!!

Have you ever removed the AC panel and then reassembled it on your center console at some point (when upgrading your stereo for example)? If so, make sure the connector isn't loose. Also, if you are low on refrigerant this issue can occur. It happened to me a few years ago.
