Can I get some opinions?

So I have the C280 and I'm in need of new headlights because when I drive at night I might as well be driving with all the lights turned off. Thing is i'm not sure whether or not I should upgrade to the Xenons or get regular headlights that come on the model but with a black frame to go with the black grill I have on and possibly new rims... any suggestions?

Picture of what you have now? Stock clear lens with halogen bulbs?

If the lenses are clouded over and you want to replace then that's one thing, but I have seen countless times when people install the bulbs incorrectly and the light pattern is so scattered you barely get any useful output so I'd start there.

That said, I wanted the factory projector style clear lens headlight to replace my original opaque halogens on my 03, but I came to find out retrofitting the xenon units isn't as easy as swapping the units out. I went the route of a set of depos and aftermarket 55w xenon kit and couldn't be happier 5 years later.

Excuse my ignorance what are "depos" I've got an 07' and run the SYLVANIA SilverStar Ultra, it's a whiter light but not much brighter and like you said converting to the OEM xenon units require a ballast ect, ect.

So what the info on the kit you installed?

Depo is the manufacturer of aftermarket headlight housings. If you see blacked-out housings, they're probably Depos.

Yes, front bumper needs to come off. However, it is not complicated at all. I purchased a new set of OEM bixenon headlights from MBenzNL and the difference in lighting is nothing less than astounding. Quite expensive but very well worth the money. For me, safety comes fist.

I looked into retrofitting the bixenon units but found they had a second plug on the headlamp housing, that my car was not wired for, hence why I went the route of using depos, and aside from one slight difference probably only noticible to me, they are identical in appearance to the oem units, which is what I was going for.

The second plug that comes on the oem bi-xenon headlights are for the dynamic (the lights goes up and down on their own) this shouldnt be a problem you could havr left it unplugged . i sure prefer oem over depos but thats just me.

yes I did some experimenting on the C32 we just got with factory xenon and discovered what those extra plugs were for and that the lights will still function without them plugged in.

I've actually been impressed with the depos- no complaints in the 4 or 5 years they've been in my car. Now these other cheap ones all over ebay that appear to be made by eagle eyes look like junk- wires inside headlamp are even all the same color. I'd be curious how long the lenses last before turning yellow.

I've had both depo's and OEM bixenon. I would advise most people to not waste their money on depos because the difference in light illumination alone between the two astounding. The build of the OEM's is also much nicer than depos. I should have just went the correct route years ago when I first purchased depos for $350. But you live and you learn. I've always tried to save a few bucks by buying replica but all you get in the end is a replica and not the real thing.

Now if I could get functional bixenon I'd be all for that, did the later 203 factory xenon come with it in the clear lens type? the 2002 versions we have do not have it. that is the main reason I'm looking, the girlfriend wants to get clear lenses in her new car like I have in mine
