'Battery warning visit workshop' newbie needs help
Hi there, new to the site so a quick hello from me
I recently had a new water pump & belt fitted to my C220cdi w203 & almost straight afterwards I'm met with the warning light for battery/alternator!
I've read so many posts on various sites & forums about this & have checked that my battery & alternator are indeed good, my battery terminals are also secure too.
Could there be any connection between the mechanics carrying out repairs to the water pump & this new fault? Or mere coincidence?
Thanks

When mine did that, it happened to be the alternator failed and the battery had a bad cell. I was also told that there is a fuse about the transmission bell housing that there is a TSB for that can cause the same thing as a battery/alternator going out. Just some food for thought, maybe some of the other guys with more experience can chime in.
Welcome by the way!

Could be the alternator itself crapping the bed or could just be alternator voltage regulator needs replacement. Mine had similar symptoms and after changing out the voltage regulator all was good.

Thanks guys, yeh the voltage regulator has come to mind a few times.
The fuse will be my 1st point of call & then hands in pocket again for the v/reg.
It all seemed odd that you change one component & the next one just goes too!
I work in a car garage but am no mechanic, & to be honest the mechanics there are old school & far too quick to simply replace parts. I know that's the way forward but I'm over £1000 in repairs on one none starter & £1250 on the wife's car still not cured either. So hence a little sceptical to let them decide on what's next on my merc.
Car trouble seems to be my 1st name at the moment, yet alone my middle!!!!!!!
