Key blade replacement issue
Happy day everyone,
This is my first post and am really excited to be part of the community. However happy circumstances did not bring me here. I purchased a 2006 C280 from an non Mercedes dealer and the key fob part works but the key blade (see picture attached) does not fit any of the locks. So I went down to the Mercedes dealership to have them make a new blade key based off the VIN number (which was verified from the registration/vehicle door). I was so excited to get my new key , went today and tested it on all locks and to my dismay it is not budging!!! The freaking key does not fit or work on any off the looks. So I had the part guy come out to check and he told me that the previous owner may have had the locks changed? What do I do? I've tried calling locksmiths but no one can help me and I feel helpless. I dont know much about keys and locks but couldn't be as simple as creating a mold based on the lock? Any help is appreciated.

How long ago did you buy this car?
I would look into checking the vin number in a few locations as well as with a diagnostic tool and make sure they all match as well as the engine number matches the vin.
Should be one under the passenger seat if i remember correctly. You put the seat all the way back and it should be on a metal plate. For other locations check the technical data part of the owners manual. But once you have the one in the door jam, windshield and seat make sure they all match up.
If someone did change the locks finding out the vin of the car that they came out of would be hard/impossible and Mercedes would never sell you the key for them as they are very strict about proving who owns the car.
Also curious does the old key and the new key look the same or are they also different?
