2005 C240 RWD engine swap
I need a new engine and would like to swap a 2005 Clk320 engine for my 2.6 from engine id 31-757522.
I read on one of the posts that they had swapped a c320 engine in but their C240 2.6 engine was prior to engine id 31-757521 and I don't know what the difference is between the engine id to 31-757521
and the engine id from 31-757522.
They said all they had to do was use the STAR system to change ME 26 to ME 32 code and whether this was only in one place or more on the ECU I don't know.
Is the STAR system only available at the dealers or do other Mercedes repair shops have them too and what would it cost to have the ECU changed? (I was a programmer before I retired and this sounds like a very easy change).
They said that the C320 was an exact fit and the EPC(parts catalog?) showed the same ME # for the ECU(CPU) on both motors.
Any help/tips would be very much appreciated.
