05 C230 loud noise from engine bay and a/c died - help!
2005 Mercedes-Benz C230 (w203) Kompressor Sport
6 speed manual
172008 miles
Hey guys. My car was driving fine with no warning lights or anything prior to this noise. I was driving down the road and the noise came out of no where when I made a left turn into a neighborhood. I had the AC on high (TX 100 degree weather) and once that noise started I felt the A/C go. The fan blows when the A/C button is on but no cold air.
I'm not quite sure what the problem could be. I'm thinking either the obvious culprit the a/c compressor, but could it be a pulley or tensioner? I could really use some help ASAP because I'm a single Dad with my son for the summer and this heat is no joke! I'm really hoping that its going to be an affordable repair because my funds are limited...
Current sound is not as loud as it was in this video (taken a few days ago) but its still there and the A/C is still not working.

I recently had a similar noise. I posted a thread about it (https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/630062-loud-knocking.html). It most likely is your AC compressor pulley since your Ac also stopped working.

Typically if it's the AC pulley the compressor will need to be replaced.
It might be possible to fashion just the new pulley on there, but I haven't seen anyone attempt that.
Have you ever replaced the alternator or its pulley? (might want to do that to avoid your new ac compressor failing as well)

If we are correct about it being the AC pulley, this is it:

Again, not sure if anyone has done it before and how easy it would be to replace it without removing the compressor. If it needs to be removed might as well buy a remanufactured one from e.g. RockAuto. The alternator pulley apparently can be replaced without removing the alt.
