A/C Problem

I promise I have researched and read till my eyes are bleeding but have not been able to find this symptom for help on my Benz.

I just bought it Saturday and everything was okay. Monday the AC started blowing hot on the way home. Since then, it has worked off and on. I have ran the test holding the two buttons and everything seems okay. Freon level is okay at 45-50psi.

I noticed today that turning off the ac button makes it go cold for a bit if it is blowing hot air at the time. Have tried taking the side windows down and that appears to make no difference.

Sometimes it just works and is ice cold. Please help. It is over 100 degrees here in OKC.

Hoping to take it to a Benz shop tomorrow but stretched myself buying it and I am worried this may be a killer....

Check the ambient temp sensor at the bumper...if it's going out it'll cause the climate control to be erratic, since the car doesn't know how hot/cold it is. Try cleaning the contacts.

Thank you! I will search how to do that one and give it a shot. It has been reading right on the display inside, if that is the same one, but I will look into it!

Bad news and help still needed. Took to local Oklahoma City independent shop. They said it just needed purge and recharge. $170 later.... same issue. Worked when I picked it up. Drove it the next day, yesterday, and same thing.
Again today. Cold then all of a sudden gets hot. Sometimes messing with settings gets it to go cold again a few minutes or sometimes seconds.

Was Ice cold in the morning when it was 88 degrees outside. Then this afternoon, cold then hot then cold etc. It is maddening.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
