'07 Mercedes C230 TRANSMISSION PROBLEM
Hello everyone,
Im new to this forums. Thanks in advance for all your help.
Came here in look of some light. I have a 2007 Mercedes C230 and just a few days ago the transmission went out on me. It went into what they call "Limp Mode" which causes the vehicle to stay in 2nd gear; Yeap, it wont go over 2nd. After a diagnostic from my local dealership and some intense research of my own (calling different shops) Most of them gave me the same feedback.
Trouble codes address a problem with the CONDUCTOR PLATE and/or the Valve Body. According to Mercedes those parts are "Theft Relevant Parts" carried exclusively by Mercedes dealerships and not sold to 2nd parties. Also, Mercedes is the only one that can work on them. Is this true? Will there be no other way around but to take it to the Dealership and get charged a ridiculous amount? If so, which organs of my body can i sell and still live a happy life? Have anyone has this issue before?
thanks in advance.

Out Of Control!!
They are correct, however they will sell the part to the registered owner---then the owner visits a shop with the proper diagnostic equipment who installs the part---no big deal---just make sure your uncle knows what he is doing, else you will be back whining!

You have a Mercedes with a 7g gearbox... expect to pay! Nothing is cheap.
U not going to get the job done much cheaper than the dealer can do it.
Even if u bought it yourself and fitted it.. remember it comes virgin ie blank and uncoded, once installed you need online access firstly to flash the unit with the correct software then to SCN code it, then to detach transport protection and activate the unit into the drive authorization system. Then learn selecter lever positions. Then only will you have drive. So unless you know an Indy with authorised online account.. let the dealer fix it. Unless there is a company that can repair Your unit successfully!
Good luck

UPDATE
So i paid to tow the car to a -Certified Mercedes Shop-. They called me this morning to tell me that my transmission is BAD (which i know). More in detail they said that the transmission has a bad converter, so i will need a Remanufactured transmission or maybe buy a used one. I asked them if there's any way that they can just fix what is wrong in the trani and change parts instead of swapping the whole thing. They said "no" that the converter is non replaceable part (or something along those lines). That if i can find a used transmission they will take care of the programming and all of that...
Any questions? Suggestions? Im looking at a Remanu transmission on eBay for $3500 bucks. All other "USED" are around $900-$1500

I have the same model and year. My problem was the conductor plate. I had an independent shop put in a new one for $1200.00. They took photos of my id and registration and had me sign a permission slip so MB dealer would give them the part.
