700-900

Starts at 1100 then drops to an idle below 1000.

Do you think the supercharger has anything to do with the higher RPM idles?

mine's a c320
i dont know about SC engines but i would think that it may have some effect...

however i have never noticed the high RPM before....
i started the car a few nights ago and heard for the first time that the engine was especially loud, as if it was revving...
and no my foot was not on the pedal
then i checked the RPM and saw that it was at about 1100...
i thought that was weird but continue to drive around...
when i reached a stop light i looked at the RPM again and it was
now at 800...

so is there something wrong... im gonna check again later today...

thank you all for the responses...

My 240 also idles at 500 when fully warmed. I have never seen a car idle so low when warm.

In general four cylinder engine is going to idle at a higher rpm than a six cylinder engine, so don't take those references as a sign of trouble.

As for what it should idle at, there are a lot of correct answers. Is it an auto? Is it warmed up? In drive? Neutral? A/C on?

I wouldn't be concerned with a 700-800 rpm idle on a warm, four cylinder car in drive, 1000 for a cold engine in neutral wouldn't concern me either... but doesn't the manual list this info somewhere?

According to a local MBZ service manager at start up (cold) 900-1000 dropping to 7-800 when warm. Actually who cares as long as it doesnt remain permanently at high idle and doesnt idle so low warm that it stumbles on move off.
