C32 AMG cluster

Friend of mine told me about a place selling an instrument cluster (and a few other parts) from a wrecked C32 AMG. i was curious if i could buy it and swap out my stock one? I know when i was looking into getting the M3 cluster for my 330 coupe, there's a mileage tamper light which senses a different cluster and cannot be reset unless brought into BMW even if they show the same mileage. i don't wanna tamper with it but this cluster has about 2,100 miles on it and since i haven't even gotten my C sedan yet, i was hoping to swap the clusters when my car hits the 2,100 miles so it comes out even. any tamper indicators or would i have to bring it to the dealer to program it my car?

It would show the chassis number of the car it comes out of.

'05 C230k sedan has a different cluster design than the C32, you can't just swap them

i see what you mean. when did the C55 come out? it's an 04' so i assumed it was C32. is that when the C55 came out?

C55 and other face lifted C-class were released back in mid-2004 as Model Year 2005 models.

ok here's what i was told by a mechanic. if i try swapping the cluster on the current C230, there's going to be mileage tampering indications when the dealer plugs into the car. telling me there are 4 or 5 different computers in different locations of the car that record the mileage and if one doesn't match up perfectly (like the cluster, or if the cluster is not reprogrammed to that car), then MB will consider it as tampering and is a felony. so i'm gonna leave it alone. no need taking a chance. unless this is untrue. does this sound right?

I also believe the mileage information is stored in the key. This info came frome a friend who rolls back odometers, so I assume he knows what he is talking about.

with that little computer type key i'd imagine that's true. i know in bmw it's stored in the cluster, computer in the headlight switch, and computer connected to the ABS. but i was gonna put in the M3 cluster and the dealer told me all they had to do was program it to my car and it would pick up the accurate mileage that's stored in the other two computers.
