What temperature does your W204 run at? What is normal running temperature?

mines in the low 90's, i would guess under 80 means something's wrong, but you should ask a mb technician just to be sure so you get an official answer on the corrrect temp.

Yes running too cold can be a bad thing. The engine is supposed to get up to a specific operating temperature in order to burn fuel / run most efficiently. Not to mention for the heater to work optimally. Running too cool can put excess wear on your engine and cost you MPG. The guy who posted (I'm paraphrasing) that 'if you want to keep the car for a while it should be running cooler' couldn't have been more wrong.
The proper temp is just a bit above the center on the gauge just like everyone here is saying. I don't understand why there are so many questions and so many people saying otherwise.
It's a fact: The normal operating temp for these cars is ABOVE THE CENTER LINE. If your car runs a little cooler I really don't see any problem with that. If it runs a lot cooler than yes you should have the thermostat and temperature sensors checked out.

Qualified MB tech weighing in:
90c is normal operating temperature for for these vehicles.
If you are running cooler it's either a jammed open thermostat, dodgy sensor or a faulty control unit (very unlikely).
If you are running hot, by which I mean consistently closer to 100, you should take it in to get checked out

on my c220 in winter temperature never go above 60c. but in summer temperature is normal (under 90c) but on highway is going down to 70c. does I have problem with temperature sensor ? or is something else ?

Actual coolant temps vary considerably compared to the gauge. I've seen logging data vary over 10 degrees during operation while the gauge stays put. The data will show typically from the lower 80s to the lower 90s. There must be some sort of algorithm they use.

2008 C300 Sport 6spd man.
Plus one for us. 2008 C300 Sport. Has run about 90C always. The temp gauge calibration on this car is a bit wierd - doesn't seem really linear. Makes you stop and study it to figure out the temp. If I were designing the car, "normal" operating temp would be exactly mid-range (horizontal).

Yeah I think there is an "averaging" algorithm in use. If you take the actual OBD rating it usually bounces between 80 and I believe 95C which is the temperature at which the thermostat opens up. I've seen it very briefly spike to 100C a few times but the dash is always reading just about the same value.

A thread back in 2014 asking the same thing...

my question was about very low temperature. in winter ( for example outside temperature around 0 degrees) temperature gauge is not passing 70 degrees, and if drive on openroad is going down to 60
