I have used advanced aftermarket intakes and filters on other cars that were not engineered to the level of my CL or my M113.

The idea that MB would not use a superior intake and oiled filter technology in an AMG if it were better performance wise is quite doubtful.

That's against the law (At least where I live.) Mercedes would have to honor the warranty, unless they can directly prove that the failure was caused by the after market part... <Which in a scenario like this, they probably could not.>

I had k&N in my old 1997 C230K 5 speed stick and there was a noticeable improvement in acceleration.
... only if the oem offers a significant restriction. K&N drop-in filters are usually bought by people that get bonerrs doing simple DIY projects that are thought to improve performance.

To see if my tracked Rx7 needed a K&N drop-in filter upgrade, I used my trusted Dwyer differential pressure gauge, 0-100" H2O pressure.

Dwyer pressure gauges, Ordering

At first it showed about 1.3 psi drop from the snorkel to just after the filter. I then took the filter out and ran with no filter, and got the same results. I found there was a restriction in a transition in the inlet ducting, so I fixed that and droped in the oem filter and all pressure drop was gone. So the K&N would not help performance.

Now K&N has some cold air filter systems that may help on some cars, doubt it on a W204.

2010 E550
Ive always had K&N filters. My last car had 170,000 miles and it never gave me issues. I never had MAF issues.

I have them in my 2010 e550 and they work fine.

Air filter Uk edition.

Hi all- very helpful DIY section.

Just wondering if anyone had instructions for air filter replacement in a w204 UK car c220 2009. The engine cover and air filter replacement DIY appear relevant to US cars only?

I take it air filter box in located in left lower quarter under the engine cover?

would be good to hear your responses ?

cheers

You can forget any type of performance increase with these filters, the only benefit they provide is a sportier sound.

K and N Be careful!

FYI, I installed K and N's on my 2003 C240 a few years ago and it later had an erratic idle. Took it to the dealer and they said my MAF was clogged with oil, @$150 to clean it.

I called K and N and they said they guarantee they won't clog the MAF. They said to send them the bill and they gave me half of my money back.

I used K an N's on my old Yukon with no problems but I don't recommend K and N's on the Mercedes. Be careful!
