Does the Trip Odometer Reset Itself?
Okay, first let me say that i am very OCD about things, and one issue with my cars is that i do NOT use the trip odometer. i like how it stays exactly on point with the regular odometer.
now based on past experiences with cars that also have digital guages, the trip odometer auto resets after a number of regular miles. my RX does this at 30K intervals where the trip meter will never reach past 30K and it resets to zero.
so when i picked up my car back in October, this woman who was showing me the ropes with the car was showing me the guages and she RESET my trip meter so now its always 9.x miles behind the regular odometer. this really drives me up the wall.
so does anybody know when the trip odometer will reset itself? so that i can manually reset it and it will match up with the real one?
seems kinda stupid i know, but its been buggin' me.

No auto reset that I have encounted. I reset mine when I do an oil change. The trip odometer in the trip computers is sufficient to track distance & time for a trip.
It's never going to match the real odometer now that is has been reset, you can only reset it to zero, not to some static value.

I use mine to track the mileage on a specific tank of gas, and reset it for every tank. Works well for that. The since "start" trip meter is inadequate for that unless you do the whole tank in a single day.

Does anyone know the specifics of when the "since start" resets? Is is simply time dependant or does engine cooling, number of miles driven, etc have anything to do with it?

How do you reset it? I found the reset button, but what screen do you have to be on in COMAND for it to work? Thanks.

When you are seeing the odometer and trip odometer, press the "OK" button on the steering wheel. The screen will ask if you want to reset and select "YES."
