Windshield washer fluid warning

The washer fluid warning does not turn off even though the reservoir has been filled to the top.

I haven't been able to check, but unless the sensor is kaput, has anyone else experienced this problem when adding yellow tinted washer fluid? I know the fluid that came with the car was pink, and I've used blue before and the fluid warning went away after refilling. Could the car not be able to detect yellow fluid?

i've posted this before but...the washer fluid sensors in these cars are unbelievably sensitive. there is too much alcohol content in most washer fluids and they cause the sensor to throw errors. cut the fluid with a little mineral water, the light will go off and you won't have to waste time at the dealership!

Interesting, I wonder if the car likes still or sparkling water.

Actually good to know, I've ordered the W204 without heated washer system and we may have cold winter nights, some ethanol based "antifreeze" is a must.

Mine went in for that problem. Sensor shot and they didn't have one in stock had to leave my car overnight.

It's just a float.

Oh, I have not seen one yet. In this case it sounds like they have a batch of bad sensors.

Has anyone bought and installed a new sensor in a ML350 without replacing the entire washer fluid resevoir? I cannot find just the sensor, just the whole tank.

I bought the windshiled fluid refill from my MB dealer. The refill was concentrated and came in a small tube (about the size of a big fountain pen.)

Just add the refill into one gallon of water (I use an empty one gallon milk jug), and then pour it into the car's windshield fluid reservior. Done.

I bought a few of those refills from the dealer, they come in handy and work pretty well.

Regards,

Yellow Washer

Well, same thing happen to me. The other day I put in Yellow Washer Fluid and the sensor was still detecting Low Washer Levels. Today I added half of a gallon of blue washer and the warning isn't there anymore...

This and that.
Always use blue washer fluid is the moral of the story.

My 2011 just started this but only when the car is below 32 degrees. It has MB fluid in it. Car goes in for it's second A service on Tuesday so I will mention it. Will most likely be trading it in around May anyway.

Just had this issue fixed on my C350 today they said the connector pin was bad. Whenever the temperature dropped the notification came on. Not a big deal but annoying

Leaning toward a Caddy I've had two W204's time for a change and I like the angular look of the current Caddilacs. Sort of fits Vader better.

Hello,
That is the answer: put some salt in washer tank. Or mineral water. You need to decrease electrical resistance of the fluid.
