I love it, but I do have a concern....that metal part in the middle is the ECU heat sink....by painting it, it might not be able to dissipate heat as well as it should, which could cause all sorts of car issues. That's why I opted to not paint it and just polish it instead.

AZN, do you have a pic of yours? I know, I know...do a search. I tried and didn't find it. Also what brand of paint did you use.
Tanman350, excuse my ignorance, but the CF portion of your design...how did you achieve that look? Is it some sort of paint? Please explain. Also, as far as the colour choices...it's your car, as long as you like it, who cares what other people think.

As for tanman, there is noo "CF portion" on his engine cover, i think your mistaken for the rough part of the cover thats not completley smooth.. its just painted black

Looks goood I think it's a cool and nice mod for those who pop open their hoods often ..... unfortunatly I must admit I can't even remember the last time I open my hood .... if ever actually ??

Same here, I use a full size towel, start with the door jambs, move to the trunk, hit the wheels and finish up under the hood. As long as you keep up with it, it never really gets very dirty under there.

Looks awesome - love the look of the heat sink slats. I'm going to do my AMG airbox now after seeing some pioneers blaze the trail!

I was debating this as well... the dealership told me it would be fine... but my egnine light coincidentaly (i dont know if i spelled it right) turned on the day after it was done and hasn't gone away... now you have me scared... lol

Looks great!!!!. I pop my hood open atleast every two weeks or so, just to check the engine oil and all that stuff. I notice that our C does not burn any oil at all which is goood. I am so used to checking oil that it is like a 2nd nature to me because my S2k litterally drinks oil as it is just the nature of high reving engine.

Oh dear...that could be bad...Very bad. You might want to play it safe and try to get the paint off the ECU then. Maybe use a few drops of paint thinner spread out over the top of the ECU then scrub lightly with sandpaper or something...But actually, you might wanna take it to your dealership first.

The pictures did not do it justice. Much better in person.
Here's some more pics from today.
Great meeting everyone.
