In fact, if you can pull the trim without removing the end caps, you might be much better off simply because they have long thin prongs and can break easily during removal and replacememt.

While you might have a difficult time getting a good grip on the trim itself if you were to leave the end caps there, leaving them there will not stop the trim from coming off.

Mercedes here wants $165 for 1 rail, ended up getting one off ebay for $68
Pulling the clips out broke the bottom lock on the clips. The clips have clips on the that lock them in on the bottom, when pulling them out they catch and break, oh well, i'll swap in my new ones and be over with haha.

Thank you, i plan to do this and plasti dip with blaze green color.
Here is orange paint of the trim. I would rather paint them outside of the car than taping it all around.

Is this DIY applicable to a coupe as well? I guess I should now go check out my car and see how the upper parts and the rear window are held on to see if it's similar.

I removed the trim and plastidipped the driver's side last night, and it looks really good. I scuffed a couple small spots that I'll touch up but overall it came out really good and it was pretty easy to remove the trim.
