Cam Solenoid Campaign
#28
MBWorld Fanatic!
Yes basically that's it, although MB has reengineered the magnets, so if because of your VIN, your W204 is subject to this preventative measure, recommended is to spend the little it costs and replace these magnets at the same service as well.

Warrantly Cancelled by Mercedes Benz
So I have a 2010 E350 with 46,000 miles (clearly still under warranty). Mercedes performed service campaign on Solenoid 8/27 and completed 27 point check and all was well. Took vehicle back 2 more times in October 2013 and they never said anything was wrong with the vehicle. Then in January 2014 car started stuttering and engine light came on. When I took it back in January they said that the oil was sludge and apparently the person who sold me the car (I bought it June 2013 from a reputable 3rd party dealer that deals in high end vehicles only) never changed the oil.
Mercedes said that warranty was invalid because of negligence. My main issue is that I brought the car to them less than 2 months after I purchased the vehicle for the recall and to perform a full inspection (explicitly saying that it is a used vehicle and want to make sure all is ok) and upon returning to pick up the vehicle they said everything was perfect with the car and all they recommended were the brakes. Now they are backing out and not taking responsibilty for certifying that all was ok with the vehicle. I am out of NYC (Mercedes Manhattan) and I purchased the vehicle in New Jersey.
Please help as I really would appreciate some guidance from some experts in this forum.
Thank You
David

Cam solenoid campaign
I had my c300 in for a thermostat install and they completed this solenoid replacement. Less then 24 hrs later my check engine light came on. The error code is P0172 and 175, system too rich. Is it possible they triggered this by playing around with the cam solenoid? They refuse to return my calls when I attempted to address this issue with them. They also have not supplied me with the proper paperwork for the thermostat install, this is a terrible dealership.

I just realized that I seem to have an oil leak somewhere towards the back of the engine that seems to be coating the trans where it mounts to the back of the engine. Wondering if this could be related to this issue? Front of the engine looks good, but I wondering if there are plugs on the back of the engine that could be leaking.

Cam Adjuster solenoid
Hi, my girlfriend has a 2008 E350 wagon and just paid to have the cam adjuster solenoids replaced ($3000). Tell me if I got this right: It looks like there was a recall for the wiring harness that could have caused oil to leak on the adjuster solenoids, causing them to fail. There wasn't a recall for the solenoids but they could be covered as part of a "campaign"? What is a campaign? Is this something MB would pay for?
thanks!
thanks!
