Eyebrow Not Working!?!

Alright guys, I blacked out my headlights and after all was said and done one of the eyebrows stopped working. I swapped bulbs with the working one and it doesn't come on. Please tell me I didn't just destroy it and have to get that part if not the entire headlight replaced.

So hard to say at this point. Are they LED bulbs or std halogen? Did you "yank" the eyebrow holder out or did you slowly pull and/or use pliers?
Did you completely shut the car off, then retry? Only thing to do at this point is to breakout the multimeter and see if that specific socket is getting power or not...

replace them with the key removed from the contact.
in your case now leave the car keyless and closed for a few minutes and the board computer will make a new check and clear the error message

I tried that, when I replaced the bulb the car was completely off. Ugh.. I don't think i used excessive force when taking out the socket, it came out pretty easily. This project has been the biggest headache ever. ugh

Could they have been damaged by the heat of the oven? Also, could the sockets be replaced by just splicing in a new set?

You need to find out if you're getting power to that specific socket or not first before trying anything else.

if you have an error message the SAM unit will not send any power, if turned off for a few sec it will do a new test and if the error is back power is turned off again for that socket

What do you mean by power it off for that socket?

Take the bulb out. Turn the car completely on (engine running) then off. Reinstall the bulb and check it. This is the only way to reset the SAM.

So you're saying since the SAM doesn't send power to the area giving the error, I need to remove the bulb to remove the error and reinstall it to see if the issue goes away? Makes sense.

So your sidemarker didn't work no matter what? Like it wouldn't light up? About how many times did you do this?

well that was interesting. One of the non-functioning bulbs came back on. So now I have 2 out of 4. The passenger side is still off. Thanks though! At least I have one more than I did. Ugh.. Now worried something is actually broken.

if they are leds you may have them in on the wrong side. they are contact based so you never know which side is the correct side(unplug the led, flip it and plug it back in)

I don't have LEDs. Also, I never took them out, they were always attached to the socket when I worked on the headlight. What's more interesting is this is the second time I've baked the headlight and the first time didn't result in any issues, the eyelids were working perfectly. I decided to redo them in a different color and that's when the issue came up. I didn't do anything different between the first and second times. ugh... so frustrating.

Alright so I did this and it brought back one of the LEDs, but now its off again. What does this mean? If they come on that should mean it's not broken right? Could this be strictly a SAM error problem?

I am experiencing the same issue. Can not make the new LED (L shape style) sidemarkers work. Do you remember the thread about that reset cycle? Thank you!

C250w4m, did the L shape side markers set you bought came with LED bulbs? I would suggest check with Mike Azn_Optics for LED bulbs. Lots of us w204 owners run his LED bulbs and his customer service is top. I bought 4 sets of LED 194 wedge from him for side markers and eyebrows. Put on and worked fine no issue.

Hi C350nubie, thanks for the advice. Here's the sidemarkers I purchased of ebay. I tried to istall first on the driver side and it hasn't worked. then I tested them in the trunk light socket and they both work fine. I believe that either power at the sidemarkers sockets is not suitable or the resistors are not the right ones for the sidemarkers power requirements.

hey guys, just want to say a big thanks to the tips. I replace my 5W5 eye brow lights with LEDs, and when they weren't working, I thought it was the connection or the LED but it was SAM telling me I had a faulty bulb. And all i needed to do was restart the ignition after taking key out. SAM won't supply power to bulb with message, gosh German cars are so well designed! Let's you fix it first. Thanks to all contributors!
