2012 C 300 A1 Service is Due.
hello folks..
I am newbie here in this forum. My C300 (2012) has only 15k miles and is now due for A1 service, displays the message on the dash.
Can somebody helpmeout with what is actually covered in this service and what will be dealer charge - assume $$$ ?
I have tried searching into the Manual, and what I learn is most likely Oil & Filters change, rest of them is just an recommened checks. is this true?
Any light on this will be appreciated.
thanks

They charged me $250 and change for it. DO NOT let them change the wipers if you dont want to. I was in a hurry and when I got the bill and receipt, I saw they replaced the wipers and cabin filter without asking me....I coulda changed the wipers and filter myself lol

Odd....A1 service is suppose to be 10k. At least it is for my 2012. I cannot comment on price since my A1 was complimentary, but moving forward, all my future service-A's will be DIY.

The BEST HID kit on the market for W204 is the MTEC
They are crystal white and insanely bright. I've gone with the cheaper kits before and you absolutely get why you pay for.

A service is 1 year or 10,000 miles and alternates with the B service. So if you are on schedule it is
A = 1yr or 10,000
B = 2 yr or 20,000
A = 3yr or 30,000
B = 4yr or 40,000 and on.
Dealers vary a lot in price and for the B service some include the brake fluid flush and some add it as a extra in my area.
My local dealer is $ 190.00 for the A service including a wash and free loaner.
if you have the time and a few basic tools its easy to do it yourself for the basic service but you will not be able to run all the checks.
Ive always done DIY projects, rebuilt off road cars, trucks and motorcycles,did all of my repairs on everything from the 70s to now but with technology where it is now and extended warranties I let the dealer or a qualified indy do the work it can save a bunch in the long run. An example on my C is my last service was a B service . I had no complaints when I dropped it off. The dealer did the service for 290.00 and washed the car, during the checks they found that I needed a ECM recal, that the chrome had a couple spots on the steering wheel that were lifting and they replaced it under warranty and the sunroof had a squeak that ended up having them replace the complete track system for the sunroof. So for me spending the 290 may have gotten me well over a 1000.00 in warranty repairs that i was not aware of at the time. Same thing happened on my G37s dealer found the battery had a weak cell and replaced the battery at 3 yr and 85,000 miles and brake rotors and pads due to a heat problem and recovered a seat that was a little loose. All of this I probably would not have noticed until it failed.
The key is finding a good service dept that you are confident using.

Taking it in for service by the dealer while under warranty is sage advice. The dealer here in Raleigh is $189 for A1. But the independent workshops are closer to $100. You may want to do the A1s at the dealer and then have the independent shops do the B1s. The B1s involve the cabin filter (which is a pain to get in and out because the access is under the glove compartment) and a brake fluid change. The independent shops are about $250 for this service in US.
