Were they able to show you the damage?

No idea, they hastily repaired it in less than 24 hours before the news crew could get over there. From what I've read $2200 or so.

Have you even seen a window with aftermarket tint that is shattered?

All the pieces stay firmly attached to the film.

No - supposedly they sent pictures over but I have yet to see them. Still furious with my treatment, could careless about the car or money at this point. This is the 2nd incident I've had with their service department.

Still have yet to get an apology for the way I felt I was treated. Still blaming me for the damage and they fixed it as a "goodwill gesture". WOW!

A friend was taking delivery of an E350 and the back window shattered just like that, while the car was idling in his driveway. Fortunately, he hadn't signed the papers and the salesman took the car back to the dealership for repair. No problems since.

Crazy - imagine if he had his children in the backseat going 70 MPH down the highway.

Tempered glass shatters into small cubes. It is fairly hard to get seriously cut by them.

As for the "Goodwill", Seems they are doing a bad job teaching customer service anymore.
I just had a similar issue at Costco, they were replacing a pair of glasses at their cost.
All they had to do was be nice to have a 100% happy customer,

. . . But Nooooooooooooo . . . . . (In my best John Belushi voice)

She had to tell me how it was my fault, and how I should be happy they were replacing them at all. (Pissed me off, Big time!) (and I love Costco)

Its crazy that business act this way. I own an online business and know better than anyone that all it takes is one pissed off customer and national story go viral.

I've emailed top 10 online blogs with my story, we'll see if anyone is interested in picking this story up.

Their demeanor is way out of line, and it sounds like they are playing with fire. It's disappointing you are receiving this kind of service from a luxury mfg.

I don't see how any previous damage to your roof was realistically your fault, if that is even the case.

From what I've got through email (have only communicated with them through email for documentation), they are suggesting that there was damage to the roof and that is why the it shattered. When I brought the car in, there was no damage anywhere to be found.

Tempered glass is funny stuff.
You can beat the sh*t out of it and it does not even scratch, then you can bump it just right (or wrong) (Usually at an edge but can also be anywhere that starts the smallest chip) and it explodes.

Imhave heard ofmthis happening on other makes. It is a combination of heat, pressure difference between the interior and exterior and flexing. Not sure how to prove it, but it is worth doing some general searches via Google to find other examples.

Already provided them with links and videos. Still blaming me for it.

More like 48K, its a loaded C350 (AMG trim). I appreciate the help, MB USA is dragging their feet on this. Vinyl decal going on back window as soon as I get the car (LEMON ALERT).

You know, it's unfortunate that this happened to you. It's also unfortunate that your dealer is behaving in this manner.

They said they would cover it, right? Get it fixed and find another dealer to work with... putting "lemon" all over the back of your car and going to the media isn't really going to help your case at this point. It only adds stress to your situation... karma is circular and they will get theirs in the end.

How would it not help my case? I could care less about the car or money involved at this point.

Exactly. Life is far too short to be hung up on something like this.

Also, as a fellow W204 owner, one rolling around with "Lemon" on the back doesn't reflect well on any of us...

So they can do the same thing to another customer that is not as aggressive and is not willing to go through this ordeal? Sorry man don't agree with you there. They only fixed it after 7 bad reviews, and me contacting the local news channel for me to even get a response out of them. Otherwise they would have just told me to **** off.

I always take care of our customers (for my business), its not worth the hassle/bad press. Hopefully this is a learning lesson for them!

Just had to employees from TriStar deliver the car, wouldn't hand over my keys until I gave them keys to their loaner...one of them actually pulled back when I put my hand out. Are you ****ing kidding me? No sorry for the inconvenience, nothing.

Honestly this has been the biggest joke in the world!

Thanks for the support. Still waiting to hear back from MB USA. TriStar has pretty much cut all contact at this point, they got their loaner car back and avoided a bad news story on the local news. Really shows me what they care about at the end of the day!
