W204 sunroof won't close, cog wheel broken! Folding side mirror opens 180deg!
First time here... hello folks. I own a 4y.o. w204.
I. Opened my sunroof into tilt mode, and after I was unable to close it. No cracking sounds, just motor spinning and doing nothing.
So I took the interior light plastic part off, and tried to close the roof manually with a hex key, but i noticed that it was spinning by pressing the button so I uncrewed the NIDEC sunroof engine. And saw the COG WHEEL IN 2 PEACES.
1. Any suggestion where can I buy this COG wheel separately?
2. Whole motor was quoted by the dealer 350$ here in EU.
3. How can I close it now, still in tilt mode and raining!
II. One of my folding mirrors is not foldind back to its position, it unfolds in 180 degrees, and looks like the "stopper" in that motor is not working, and the mirror is easy movable by the hands. I guess I need a replacement for that, anyone ever disassembled the folding mirror+its engine?
THANKS ALL!!

Broken sunroof motor gear also..
I just dropped my motor and have the same thing. The gear is split in 2. I am curious if anyone knows if you can just have the gear replaced and where you would find the part if so? I'm leery to try soldering it together as it seems it will just brake again..

Stupid Gear
Have the same exact problem! mine was broken into more than two pieces Dealer gave me a quote for the whole sunroof wouldn't sell me just the sunroof gear to replace 1100$ for the whole sunroof part + labour = 2600$ roughly. If anyone knows where i could get my hands on one that would be great !
Also one my side mirrors doesn't seem to fold either!!

Its not that simple and it's not that hard i recently fixed mine for approximately 12$ it was just a broken gear. To access it you have to take light covers on both sides and then theres a push back pin/mount i don't know if it would be the same for your model i will look at it and let you know.

I found it on eBay from a seller in England the size was a little bit off but with a little bit of DW-40 and some hammering was able to get the gear to fit on the rod of the motor

Had the same problem. Ordered the cog wheel from eBay for around $8. However, I couldn't insert the cog wheel into the motor rod as the hole was a tad too small. The motor rod has a keeper at the edge which prevented the cog wheel from sliding straight in. The motor rod edge had to be grinded down for the cog wheel to go in. My local mechanic charged me $60 to get this done. After that, I re-installed the motor assembly and all is good again. Total cost was $68 which is still much better than what MB would have charged me $1,000 for the motor+cog assembly plus labor. MB would not sell me just the cog wheel as it is not listed in their system which I think is a total rip-off.
