Tires choice Continental vs Michelin

So, its time for tires changing. The car now has Continental SportContact 3. It's better to stay with Continental and put the SportContact 5 or go with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 or even go with the Super Sport Pilot?

Michelin Pilot sport A/S3! Though I doubt that we could really tell the difference with any of these ultra high performance A/S tires...

Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 are outstanding. We have them on our E so far, and the C will be next when the time comes.

I was in the same boat but after numerous searches on many automotive forums, I ended up with the PSS from Mich.

What about the noise some people say that the Mich are noisy tires? Is this true? And conti have the MO, mich doesnt have it if i am right. Does the MO makes any different or is just an approve by MB?

The guy is in Cyprus. Pretty sure he doesn't need A/S tires there. I don't even think Michelin sells this model there.

Back to his original question (about summer tires), Michelin Pilot Super Sports seem to be getting rave reviews. I think I'd give them a try, although I have used ContiSportContact2 in the past, and they were great as well.

This is a generalization at best. Any tire can become noisy if it wears unevenly due to incorrect alignment, worn suspension components, or just a tricky suspension setup (for example: lots of negative camber).

Yes, you're right...sorry....Michelin has the foggiest nomenclature system! So many of their tires have names which sound similar.

Yes i never hear about the A/S again in Cyprus!! I want the best for dry grip since the weather here is mostly hot and i never take the car in a drive in the rain..

Well the suspension is the standard so no problem for the tires..

I think you'll be happy with the amount of grip that PSS provides, both dry and wet.

Michelin PS2 or PSS are best on this chassis.

Conti Sport Contact series are always noisy with this chassis & the W203. They get even noisier as they wear & throw up slight vibration on change of direction.

The Conti's also give a more harsh ride due to sidewall construction vs. Michelin.

What about the MO that Michelin doesn't have it in the PSS?

I am doing the same research for my sl600, maybe the lack of MO is due to politics however it may be due to load ratings.

This is what I understand

Conti sport contact:

Better in the wet
Slightly less expensive
Has MO

Super sport:

Better dry performance
Softer ride
Better durability

Conti SC Tyres are crap on the W204 & 203 chassis. I've tossed every OE set I have had off of my cars at low mileage. My service manager wishes Benz would stop fitting them he gets so many complaints.
