Standard changes to make to stock C220 Sport?
Hi Guys,
Hopefully picking up my 2009 C220 Sport (Gun Metal Grey) in a weeks time. Nothing has been changed or modified on the car. What are the standard things that are normally changed on the car when purchasing?
I normally like bright Xenon headlights, and this was the only thing i was thinking about looking to change for the car if the headlights that come standard are just a normal colour. Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Step one is probably to inspect all of the vehicle systems and replace worn/failing components, as well as insure all maintenance has been performed to date.
Modifications are a significantly different story, as your car is well out of manufacturer's warranty, you have the opportunity to modify any system you'd like without the possibility of voiding the warranty. I would base these on characteristics of the car you feel you'd like to improve (power, handling, braking, appearance, amenities). Once you decide on an improvement to make, check the forum for modifications for that characteristic.
As far as lighting, there are some things to consider before changing lighting. Replacement of the bulb with stock should regain OEM performance from aging bulbs. OEM or proper retrofit HIDs are expensive for the actual performance improvement, and require extensive modification.
"Whiter" halogen replacement bulbs are available, but come with a reduction in light output and/or bulb life (significant). Replacement bulb light output is regulated, so the only way manufacturers maintain output while changing color is increasing intensity while filtering the halogen color output (Silvania Silverstars for example). This significantly reduces bulb life.
Plug and Play (PnP) HID kits are available from several online sources, but are not compliant with US federal regulations. Further, an HID bulb has a different arc pattern than a halogen bulb resulting in a modified throw pattern from the stock reflector system, which can cause unnecessary glare for oncoming traffic. OEM and retrofitted HID systems use the correct projector or reflector to allow the bulb to produce the the correct lighting pattern.
