c350 key not detected
Hey guys,
So I have been having an ongoing problem getting the classic "key not detected" error and it seems to be getting worse....
I have searched the forums and found that most people have fixed this problem by replacing the fob key. I did this and the problem is persisting.
My issue seems to be a bit different: I will be driving the car and out of nowhere I will here a quiet chirping noise (the chirp repeats itself 5-6 times in quick succession) and immediately I will get the "Key not detected" error.
When this error comes up, it usually lasts for about 20 seconds then goes away by itself without me moving where the fob is.
It got really bad the other day and the key not detected error stayed on for my entire drive home from work (over 40 minutes). I even pulled the smart button out and put my key into the ignition and turned it, but the error stayed.
I wanted to try my spare key to see if it would happen with both, but my spare has never worked since I bought the car.
Im going to have the spare re-programmed on STAR this weekend and hopefully it will help when I try it.
Does anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences?
Thanks!
Edit: Its a 2008 C350 4matic
Edit: I have already changed the key fob betteries

My bad, I should have included the fact that I changed the batteries already and it didn't help.
One thing I have noticed: If I have my phone charging through the cigarette lighter, the problem is much more frequent....
