Buying 2008 C300
Hi all
I am looking to buy a 2008 c300 rwd with 60k miles, original owner for $12k.
What are your opinions on the price and reliability?
Any common issues and rough costs I should expect to 100k?
Anything I should look for during my inspection?
Thanks much!

Not a bad deal really! Just make sure that it was regularly serviced. At 60k I would get the ServiceA/B (Oil-change w/ filter), Transmission fluid change, Brake fluid change. You shouldn't have any trouble getting to 100k.
Just enjoy your new car! With proper maintenance and cleaning the car will run and look new.

It almost sounds too good...
Do you have a link for the ad or any more info about? Asked about service records? There is a really high chance that the car is just the right price but still have to double check
Also go to kbb.com and fill it out for the car you looking and compare the prices between what kbb says and what dealer is selling at. If there is a big gap, then I would start asking some more questions.

Check with MB if there are factory recalls, tail light and a wiring harness under the hood was taken care of free of charge.
Listen carefully if you can hear engine bearing noise after the car sits over night or is turned off after several hours.
I have these problems with my 2008 C300, but I still love the car.

2008 C300 here with 55k miles. So far so good. Minor issues but an extended warranty covered a new key made, window regular went off track, headlight switch went a little funky, CD player stopped working (about to take to the shop), and crank case ventilator cracked (about to take to the shop). The last two are new problems, but so far the car is running good. I bought it at 22k miles on it. As far as driving it drives just as good as I bought it.

$12k for an 08 seems too good to be true, street price on that year should be closer to $19-20k. If I recall correctly, check the serial number on the engine - there were balance shaft issues that affected earlier models but some of the 08's were affected also.

I guess all 2008s are not so bad. Mine has only cost me $700 for a new ESL module. Check and see if they have replaced their taillight wiring (recall) and if they have replaced the ESL and/or EIS which are common problem areas.
