Foggy Headlights 2012 W204

hey guys,

I just got my car. Last night I cleaned my headlights which were pitted with Turtle Wax headlight Restorer. However, the headlights actually became more foggy and cloudy and if u look carefully you can see scratch marks from the sand paper. The funny part is that to the touch, the headlights feel really smooth.

Any recommendations as to what I can do?

Thanks

Pictures say a million words...

Anyways, I use Maguires headlight restorer. It's just a liquid that you rub in with a towel and use an another clean towel. It works magic. I did it every 6-9 months. I would never use sand paper on my headlights.

Too Many To List
I know that this product does not say "headlight restoration" on it, but I have had excellent results. Meguairs ultimate compound. Use a terry cloth and rub it on and buff like a mad man. The results are impressive and what's better, you can use the rest on your car when you're done. Just my two cents.

I've seen those wet sand kits before and I'm pretty sure you have to take a buffer wheel to the headlight afterwards. You're not trying to buff it out by hand are you?

I buffed it out by hand and it seemed to create small micro scratches.

I tried using toothpaste last night and it didnt seem to work.

Anything else that you would recommend?

Should I get a buffer wheel?

How and what you use to get the scratches out of your headlights is going to depend on how deep (large) the scratches are. A power buffer can be very useful but if you don't use it correctly you could damage the surface of your headlights worse than they are now.
Here's a good resource on restoring headlights:
