Dealership quoting over $500 for a seat cover

I assume its the extreme temperatures that Manitoba Canada reaches, but I've come to realize that the MBTex used in our cars do not last here. My passenger rear seat material is stretching, and my driver side material has ripped at the seams as well as start peeling. Never seen something like this happen or hear about it in any car, let alone expect it to happen in a car like this, but it seems I'm screwed.

I called the Stealership to ask about the cover price, and they quoted me $519 before taxes. Is there any way to acquire the material other than the dealership? I took it took an upholstery shop but they did not want to work on it, because they said unlike other heated seats there are wiring and heat coils running throughout the foam instead of it being a simple heat pad and they did not want to risk cutting into it in fear of damaging something. I'm sure this issue has come up for many people, is there a good solution to this? I'm looking so hard to get rid of this car but problems keep happening.

I've the same issue. I think that's a ridiculous price for just the cover. I'm going to purchase a yard or so of material and sew a new one.

Ahh, I didn't drill down through their site. I know some folks that used them before, its real leather replacement covers and the quality was really nice. Plus you get to pick and choose colors, etc. Just if I had to replace my covers, its the first place I would look. Maybe someone else offers then on the w204.

If I were just looking for cheap, I'd check junk yards. Lots of wreckers online that you can put in a parts request.

My driver's seat bottom is cracked in no less than 5 places. MB dealer wanted $350 for the either the bottom or seat back material. An auto interior shop wanted $300 just to put it on. My indy shop will do it for $200. That's $550 so far. Not feeling that.
Looked around on the internet and called many shops here. No one has the exact match leather or vinyl, so it's gonna look off unless you replace the whole interior. No one makes an easy replacement like Katskinz.
My shop told me to find one in a euro recycle yard for cheap and take the material off of them and replace my cracked one. Just remember you need to make sure not to damage the heaters.

Wow, I'm a little surprised here that Mercedes wouldn't cover this. I'm hearing about this issue more often now with the MBTex and seats should simply not be tearing in a 3-4 year old car. Doubtful that they would do a recall but I would think they would honor the craftsmanship of their vehicles and cover this under some kind of warranty or at least as a "good will" service.
