Vibration in brake pedal stopped in gear

hey guys, new to this forum , i drive a 2010 mercedes C250 4 matic, i found that when i put the car in drive or reverse there is rumbling in the brake pedal while its depressed while in gear, or stopped at a stop light, can't feel anything while moving, also sometimes happens when I'm slowing down a stop , little bit of vibration/rumbling as soon as I'm about to stop then goes away.

Can it be engine mounts? axles? or something with the braking system?

i would like to figure this out, thanks!

Hello Manny,

I would first inspect your pads & rotors for wear & see whether they are within tolerance. Your rotors may also be warped causing the vibration.

yes i was thinking that it might be causing the vibration while the car is almost at a full stop, it doesn't vibrate coming down from fast speed, but what would be the vibration through the pedal while i am stopped in gear D or R , only sometimes?

Is the car itself also vibrating at standstill or just through the pedal ?.

Open the bonnet & see if the engine is moving about at idle & in gear. Could be mounts as you say.

If not I am wondering about the ABS braking or vacuum system but surely not.

Its just through the pedal sometimes, at standstill in gear the car is a bit rumbling when its cold but better when warm but i will see the engine while its in gear and idle if it moves, there is no ABS light though, can be vacuum but not sure I'm gonna see the engine mounts right now

Best thing to do is get it on a lift and see how much the transmission is moving while it's in gear and the brakes applied. Definitely hard to do from home on the garage floor without assistance.

okay so it doesn't do it in neutral when I'm coming to a stop also, so next i should probably check the tranny mounts like you said

I would say that the issue is on transmission mount and engine mounts. When the rubber piece between the 2 plates is gone, the transmission vibrates on stop or idle. While in neutral is ok because the tranny is not doing anything. I just replaced mine and the issue is solved. Is an easy job as long as you have the proper tools to do the job. Hope it helps.

You can get it from many websites such as www.ecstunning.com or www.rockauto.com or even www.fcpeuro.com
All of those have competitive prices but ultimately is up to you. Best of luck.
