HELP! Comand Online Reverse Cam PAL Signal - eng menu
Hi guys,
I need some help...
Following the fantastic guides here in the forum I installed a reverse camera on my W204 2014 estate. Radio is Comand Online NTG 4.7.
Total cost was 62 euros (45 for the camera and cables and 17 for the double fakra adaptor)
Instalation went well, but when I got the system working I ran into a problem.
Image shows in black and white.
I went to the engineering menu, "Input Signal Setting", and the default for the Reverse Camera is NTSC. My camera is PAL.
When I change to PAL I click END and the system reboots and when it back again, the signal is in NTSC again.
If I make a preview on the engineering menu in PAL, image is fine.
Any ideas on how make this change to PAL permanent?
Thanks to all.

Hi!!
I have the NTG4 and not the NTG4.5. In my system, for reverse camera it only accepts NTSC cameras, not PAL cameras. And i think that for NTG4.5 is the same thing.
Maybe some other user inputs some new info.
Are you sure the camera is for colored image? Or is just black and white?
By the way, i am from Portugal too, Porto...

Hi Psaldanha,
Thank you for your reply.
That might be an explanation (the NTSC input).
The camera I bought is colour, PAL system.
The strange thing is that I can change the video input from NTSC to PAL, but after system restart it goes back to NTSC again.
I will try to post a video later.
Thank you.

Hi!!
Well, i installed myself the rearview camera in my car. First, i checked all the options in the enginering menu (secret menu). But that was all ok! Then i tried with a pal camera (i had one in home before get one). With the PAL camera the screen flickered and just give a black and white image. Then i adquire a NTSC camera and the image is ok since then in colour, without any problem. Just get a NTSC camera with water protection! And dont connect the power to rear lamp power!! Search for fuse 71 that is constant power! Get a fuse in that for the camera! As the camera will be on all the time (even if in the Command unit doesnt give any image), dont get a cmos camera. Get a CCD camera!!
Good luck!!

use a relay between the 71 fuse wire . let it trigger by the powerwire from the rear light,
Your camera will now only turn on when putting it in rear. No need to leave it on at all time

Because OEM camera has a unit control between the command unit and the camera.
You have that setup without any problems?

I don't have the OEM camera but a CCD from Ebay.
It works fine this way without any delays or sync problems.
i uses a normal 4 pin relay
pin 85 to the fuse box pin 86 on the + wire from the camera (- wire camara on mass)
trigger pin 30 + wire from the rear light en pin 87 to mass.
