Silverstar Bulbs
Hey guys,
I had one of my bulbs go out a few weeks ago and I went to the auto parts store to get a replacement bulb for the time being. It seems as if my headlights became weaker. I was thinking about switching to silverstar bulbs on the car and see if that helps. Has anyone done this before? Any other methods to check out? Thanks in advance.

They are just slightly brighter halogen lights. The advertising or packaging will make it seem like you get HID-like performance out of them, and its honestly misleading. It's definitely brighter, but just don't expect HID brightness.

Yea I know what to expect. I have used them on other vehicles but I just have not heard about it being used on Mercedes vehicles. I just was curious how much more brighter it would be on the projector headlights in a Mercedes vs. a normal type of headlight that I've used it on.

The projector headlights is just going to improve the headlight beam and acuteness, not the the brightness, if that makes sense. The brightness comes down to the type of bulb used and its respective kelvin rating.

i am happy with these bulbs. They are not as HIDs we all know it but 30-40% brighter and also they look pretty nice at night. I had one go out 9 months later and called Sylvania warranty dept , had copy of receipt. 3 days later i received brand new set. 1 year warranty..

I have the Silverstars in my car. They are o.k, and slightly brighter. I actually put them in to achieve a "whiter" look to match the LED running lights and the LED parking lights purchased from AZN Optics. They are definitely whiter than the stock halogens but don't quite match the LED's.

I was thinking about going with Silverstar Ultra bulbs. Do you guys have any recommendations as far as any other brands of bulbs to check out without going to HID's?

Apparently they're short lived in comparison to other bulbs, but none of mine have gone bad yet (wore gloves installing, making sure not to touch the bulb even with gloves on), and as far as I can tell they haven't dimmed since installation at all.

I went ahead and purchased the Silverstar Ultra bulbs. I installed them yesterday and they seem to be doing better visability wise. The one that was in the car before I replaced them makes a "V" type shape with the light output. The new Silverstar Ultra seems to have a more centered and concentrated beam of light. The first picture is the old one and the second is the new one.

One other thing I'm sure you are aware that YOU CAN NOT TOUCH THE GLASS OF THE BULBS! that will shorten the life of the bulb significantly
