Check Engine Light:Coolant Thermostate Code
Check engine light code: P0128
Coolant thermostat: Coolant temperature below thermostat regulating temperature.
The light been cycling on and off. Shows up for a week than dissapears for two months. This has happened for 6 months. I think it is time to do something about it. Can anyone help me understand what this is, how direly it needs to be fixed immediately, any potential damage done for neglecting to, and what OEM replacement part to by?
Went to the dealer and prefer not to deal with them. The part I believe I need to buy is $100 on amazon, and takes 15 minutes to install. They quoted over $500 and claim 3 hours labor haha.
My research found this to be the part needed: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BR4...=A39702CCOVJH2
Also potentially a gallon of antifreeze to replace mine during the changing process via flush may be needed. If inderd this is all correct can the coolant flush be skipped? I have no lift.

That is the part you need. I changed mine with negligible coolant loss, the car was cold. To access the thermostat, move the airpump, takes a few minutes, but it is the best way to access the bolts on the stadt.

Yes, thermostat on these cars is known to fail...mine did. DIY straight forward and you may just need to top of coolant. Be careful not to get any debris in around the housing during repair and you will not need to flush.
