HI Everyone,


One month ago my 2010 C300 right side low beam turned to blue color and then purple. Couple days later, it stopped working. I bought $20 cheap 7000k D1S HID kit from ebay and plugged in. Everything works fine until yesterday. It stopped working again. I switched the good bulb from left side to right and no luck. Is my ballast/HID control unit dead? What causes the problem?

Most likely the ballast that went bad. If you do go aftermarket look at the morimoto stuff, good quality and 5 year warranty. Azntropics has them for sale along with bulbs. Go with 5000k or around there for optimal light.

Thank you for your post. For Ballast,
1. MB dealer asking $300 + labor to install.
2. Ebay used one, $80 and installed by myself
3. Find a compatible ballast??? Looks like impossible
4. Change the whole assemble with aftermarket one, $600 on ebay.
