2012 C350 4M - Rust bubbling up paint on windshield trim
Yesterday I noticed bubbling in the paint at the top of the trim next to the windshield on the driver's side. I believe this is being caused by rust. The paint is unbroken - ie there is no sign of a stone chip or any external physical damage. It's happening from within. Unbelievable in a car that's just over 3 years old.
Anyone else have this problem?
The warranty on surface corrosion is 4 years or 80,000 km. I am within those thresholds so i plan to get the dealer to fix this. But it makes me wonder how many other areas are getting ready to sprout rust?

My solution was to wrap it in gloss black vinyl. Can't tell the difference and is cheap (compared to ~$200 each side). Supposedly lasts 10 years, but at the price of $30, I wouldnt mind if it lasted half of that.

So you're saying this is a plastic piece? It sure feels like metal, albeit lightweight.
Anyway, dealer replaced it under warranty, no problem, so all is good now.
I will keep your vinyl wrap solution in mind if I have any future issues. Thanks.
