Charging phone through USB in console?
I have a 2012 C300 with a USB port in the center console. The problem is that it's only for "data transport" instead of actually charging the phone.
Is anyone aware of a way to connect that to the power going to the cigarette lighter directly underneath? Or any way of creating an extra port?

I plug my phone in there with a USB cable regularly and it charges my phone just fine; maybe a little slower than I would like, but it does charge it.

Maybe a setting in your phone. I take it you click "yes" that you trust the computer. If so, then what happens?
Mine I plug it in and it shows it is charging. It won't charge if the power to the car isn't on, but it does when the key is turned.
You could always just get a cigarette lighter power cord.

Just get yourself one of these
It will turn your 30pin media interface into the lightning which is able to play music and charge at the same time.
