C300 Custom Speaker Pods - aftermarket sound system install
Hi everyone,
I've had an aftermarket sound system in my 09 C300 since I bought it. This year I decided to add more drivers to it to spice it up a bit.
I built 5 speakers enclosures: 2 a-pillar pods, 2 rear deck pods, one rear seat box. I then had them wrapped in Mercedes OEM vinyl to match the interior material.
Below are specs, pics of the final product as well as some pics of the build process. The sound quality is high, the sound level is very loud (clear up to about 98db), and the sound stage is incredible. With so many drivers, the entire car is filled with all-encompassing sound. The amps were all leveled so the sound stage is a tad forward.
I apologize in advance for the dirtiness in the build-time pics. I did most of the work over the course of 3 months at work, during my lunch time, in the parking lot. This means I did not have a proper workplace available so my poor W204 was abused during this time period. Now that it's almost all complete, I feel a bit better about the process. I'm sure someone with adequate time, work space, etc.. can probably replicate the pods in a weekend each.
