My car hasn't started in about a week. I have had my check engine light on for a few months, when I checked it out a few months ago they said it was the EGR valve and that it needed to be fixed but would cause no major problems, but it would cause the car to run rough. Now the car won't start, it is not the battery, Im not sure if it is the alternator or the EGR valve. The day that it stopped working the battery/alternator came on and it wouldn't move after that. When I turn the key you can hear the engine but when I give it gas it does nothing. Can someone tell me if the EGR valve is the reason or if it is the alternator. NO RUDE COMMENTS PLEASE I JUST NEED SOME HELP. IT IS A 2002 MERCEDES C240. THANK YOU FOR ANYONE WHO CAN SHED SOME LIGHT.

Try the W203 forums. You might get better responses there.

Sounds like you have overlapping symptoms at this point. If you don't at least have a code reader a professional might be your better option.
