Usually a sunroof drain that's blocked or damaged. Water pools in the a-pillar then runs down into the floor. There was an updated sunroof drain grommet bulletin at some point, but your car might have already had it. Either way they get gummed up and stick closed.

Easy to test, just open the sunroof and pour a cup of water into the front corners, you will see one of them not draining. Then remove that side fender liner and check the drain. If you pull it off and water pours out, it's fixed. If not, the tube coming from the sunroof is pinched or damaged, and requires removing the headliner to address.

Just trying to help. I work on these cars daily and it's amazing how little info is out there for such common issues.

I respect the fact that not everybody buys a benz with the ability to throw thousands at it in a dealership to fix simple problems, I know I couldn't afford my CL if I didn't fix it myself. I just spent almost 4K in parts alone to do a major maintenance overhaul on the car, for a customer the bill would have been more than I paid for the car. I learn things every day, least I can do is share.

$1100 for a leak? Is it too late to take it to an indy?

I'll chime in with another nod to the sunroof drain plugs being clogged. Had the same thing happen after the dealer had replaced my sunroof and track (long story!) and they didn't reconnect the drain plugs properly. Came out to my car after a day of it sitting in the rain and the entire floorboard was soaked. It drips down from the top of the door frame and was hard to tell at first unless you sat in the car with the doors closed while it was raining because the drips never really touched the door panels.

If it isn't the sunroof drains, it's the drains in the cabin air intake baffle before the fan blower. If they get clogged, water can enter the intake, soak the cabin filter and leak onto the floor a bit through there. It's super unlikely but a possibility.

here's a picture sort of showing where they can get clogged up. Some w204s are fitted with a fine grid on the intake which helps a lot (Canadian models do to help prevent snow from getting sucked in), but I don't think all w204s do. You might have some leaves/dirt built up in there as well

I need the loaner though cause of work and only dealerships around me offer courtesy loaners.

I'd pull the cabin air filter and see if it is wet. Then you know it could be a clogged drain up front like funkwagen is suggesting.

Understood, but it seems like a rental would have been cheaper than paying dealer prices.
