Tire size on C300 Sport installation

i have read numerous threads about the tire size being offset. 2011 C300 Sport. I got a great deal on some Continental tires. 4 of them 225-45-17.. I have been to 3 different shops Firestone Auto Care. Monroe Muffler and Tires. Walmart. no one will put these tire on for me. I read numerous posts that I can use 225-45-17 instead of 245-40-17. My question is why will no one install these for me. Guy telling me car wont pass inspection Pennsylvania with wrong tire size on. I live around Pittsburgh area. Any thoughts and suggestions.

Do not go to the chain store shops. They have rules and regulations they have to follow.
Go to mom and pop's shops and they'll do it for you, no questions ask.

Anyone have any idea if this is going to hurt the vehicle's alignment, axles, etc, in the long run by running the same 4 tire sizes?

Nicholas, I'm actually selling mine within a few weeks. I have the factory 17s like you with the Pilots. I'll probably sell them as a package however. They only have 11k miles on them.

I bought 4 tires 225-45-17. Did away with the 245-40-17 size. The tires fit fine on stock rims. $ 330 shipped for 4 tires sold me on the idea. Tirerack.com. Sumitomo HTR A/S P02. Had BF Goodrich G-Force COMP-2 A/S on they lasted only 15,000 miles. Which is ridiculous i think. Alignment was checked twice.
