New ordering guide for US market and the release date.
I just got the new order guide from the dealer near me. As you can see the release date is in Sep. Also for US market, the Black Ash trim is optional for base model. There's a new package called Hands-Free Access. A new 18-inch Twin 5-spoke wheel stand alone option. But unfortunately, the base price is not released yet...
I have 2 questions now. First, what will I miss without Multi-Media package? I don't mind a smaller screen. 7-inch is good for me. Garmin Navi works well. I've been using it for years. Rear-view camera is only $460 for stand-alone option. What I'm afraid is that Carplay will only work with COMAND system. Any one knows? Second, sports suspension or airmatic suspension? What's the difference? Thank you guys!

ive been wondering the same thing about the multimedia package. its 2600 dollars and im not sure its necessary. i only really need the rear view camera from it, and as you said it can be purchased individually.
the downside if i dont get it ofcourse is that i wont have the bigger and better screen. but is that it? i dont even have an iphone so i dont care about carplay. and i dont need sirius weather/traffic. the only thing i need is the camera (which can be bought individually) and the better graphics system. im not sure if its worth it though. is there any other benefit to getting MM package?

This is what I found on UK website. Not worth the money to me. And it didn't mention Carplay at all...

"Garmin® Map Pilot navigation system

it really doesnt sound like its worth it either. does anybody have actual pictures of the 2 systems so that i can compare? i dont mean the actual screen, i mean the actual graphics and things like that. is there a video online where i can see the 7inch screen in motion? all i can find is the 8.4 inch screen
edit: does the 7inch screen without multimedia package still have those cool graphics menus displaying the car in 3D?
this is what im talking about. does the 7 inch screen have these type of menus? or is it a whole different interface?

apparently the suspension has been upgraded, even for the standard steel suspension. for those of us who are used to standard c class transmissions would probably be able to tell the difference between the two, but theoretically they should both be better in the first place.
airmatic is suposed to be more adaptive to a given situation (stiffens when needed, probably smoother in general, but of course that depends on the mode that it's set in).
as far as carplay goes, that seems to be up in the air. i see no reason why an upgrade once it's ready wouldn't be available, command or not. it's a software solution, so it really shouldn't matter. the only problem would be if MB decided to "lock" it out of a non command vehicle, which would just be an a-hole move.

Agility Select is a standard feature, and also part of the 315 Airmatic package. Makes no sense. And I thought Airmatic was standard on the C400 4M, they must have changed that, now they get $1190 for it even on the C400 4M. Until I see what the heads up display shows (in addition to the speedo), if its worth $990 - especially if you don't get the navigation, what does the HUD show in that case other than the speedo?

Also, I guess this car has only 3G service for the connected car apps? Its almost useless without 4G connectivity, the folks on the S class forum are critical of that - even the $100K+ S class has 3G.

you can easily put more than 12K in options. I am only looking at the C300 to reduce cost and at the current price of the C250 at 36K, my dream configuration just barely touches 50K. I am assuming the new C class will have a price increase of a few hundred to a thousand dollars. Still very expensive for a C class.

I don't see why ppl need 3G/4G connection. Doesn't everyone have a cellphone today?

According to my dealer, the base price for the c400 (in Canada ) is 50400! There are easily 16k worth of options available which I have on order, plus charges for metallic paint, freight and delivery. A fully loaded c400 in Canada is probably 70k plus tax. For me in Ontario that's another 13%.

Whether it's $50,400 or $51,400, both are LOWER than the current Canadian base price of the W204 C350 4matic which is $52,800. I really don't understand all this "OMG, the new C-Class is so expensive!" reaction - if the reported prices for the W205 in Canada are accurate, Mercedes there has actually decreased the base price. This isn't a cheap car but when compared to the price of the nearest equivalent outgoing C-Class, it looks like pretty good value, at least in Canada. Hopefully, the same will be true south of the border.

Personally, I think the ability to adjust even the standard suspension is cool.

The HUD display does display navigation, that is what swayed me. Plus I got every single option except rear side airbags, so what is an extra $900 at this point. lol

Hopefully someone can translate this better than Google, but it seems like Command Online is necessary for Carplay.
