New ordering guide for US market and the release date.

I just got the new order guide from the dealer near me. As you can see the release date is in Sep. Also for US market, the Black Ash trim is optional for base model. There's a new package called Hands-Free Access. A new 18-inch Twin 5-spoke wheel stand alone option. But unfortunately, the base price is not released yet...

I have 2 questions now. First, what will I miss without Multi-Media package? I don't mind a smaller screen. 7-inch is good for me. Garmin Navi works well. I've been using it for years. Rear-view camera is only $460 for stand-alone option. What I'm afraid is that Carplay will only work with COMAND system. Any one knows? Second, sports suspension or airmatic suspension? What's the difference? Thank you guys!

ive been wondering the same thing about the multimedia package. its 2600 dollars and im not sure its necessary. i only really need the rear view camera from it, and as you said it can be purchased individually.

the downside if i dont get it ofcourse is that i wont have the bigger and better screen. but is that it? i dont even have an iphone so i dont care about carplay. and i dont need sirius weather/traffic. the only thing i need is the camera (which can be bought individually) and the better graphics system. im not sure if its worth it though. is there any other benefit to getting MM package?

Did your dealer say when he expects to get some demo models?

I dont think the hands free is new, I already added the option when I ordered 1.5 months ago. Nothing I see really changed so this is probably pretty close to final

This is what I found on UK website. Not worth the money to me. And it didn't mention Carplay at all...

"COMAND Online system
8.4-inch high-resolution colour display, hard disk drive (HDD) navigation with 3D map display, live traffic information and European map data updates free of charge for the first three years. Single CD / DVD, Speed Limit Assist and Linguatronic voice control. Mercedes Connect me services, Mercedes-Benz emergency call system (eCall) and access to Internet sites when vehicle is stationary, plus unrestricted use of Mercedes-Benz apps (Internet-enabled mobile phone required). Integrated WLAN hotspot for onboard access of WLAN-enabled devices. Also includes 10 GB music register and MP3 compatibility"

"Garmin® Map Pilot navigation system
Operation via controller, touchpad or voice control. SD card navigation with instructions shown on 7-inch high-resolution colour display in the instrument cluster. Includes 3D views with visualisation of roads and buildings as well as junction and lane assistants, making it easy for drivers to orientate themselves. Spoken instructions are emitted through vehicle’s built-in speakers. Software and map can be updated online"

it really doesnt sound like its worth it either. does anybody have actual pictures of the 2 systems so that i can compare? i dont mean the actual screen, i mean the actual graphics and things like that. is there a video online where i can see the 7inch screen in motion? all i can find is the 8.4 inch screen

edit: does the 7inch screen without multimedia package still have those cool graphics menus displaying the car in 3D?
this is what im talking about. does the 7 inch screen have these type of menus? or is it a whole different interface?

hands free is pretty cool, there's an invisible "kickplate" under the rear bumper, which opens the trunk with a foot movement when your hand are full.

apparently the suspension has been upgraded, even for the standard steel suspension. for those of us who are used to standard c class transmissions would probably be able to tell the difference between the two, but theoretically they should both be better in the first place.

airmatic is suposed to be more adaptive to a given situation (stiffens when needed, probably smoother in general, but of course that depends on the mode that it's set in).

as far as carplay goes, that seems to be up in the air. i see no reason why an upgrade once it's ready wouldn't be available, command or not. it's a software solution, so it really shouldn't matter. the only problem would be if MB decided to "lock" it out of a non command vehicle, which would just be an a-hole move.

Is 'Keyless Start' the same as 'Keyless Go' or do I need to separately order keyless go?

keyless start is push button start with key in your pocket. Keyless go includes the door handle unlock. Its really penny pinching to separate the two...

Agility Select is a standard feature, and also part of the 315 Airmatic package. Makes no sense. And I thought Airmatic was standard on the C400 4M, they must have changed that, now they get $1190 for it even on the C400 4M. Until I see what the heads up display shows (in addition to the speedo), if its worth $990 - especially if you don't get the navigation, what does the HUD show in that case other than the speedo?

Also, I guess this car has only 3G service for the connected car apps? Its almost useless without 4G connectivity, the folks on the S class forum are critical of that - even the $100K+ S class has 3G.

No, less than that. Even if you put $12K in options into the C400, it probably comes in around US$55K I would guess.

you can easily put more than 12K in options. I am only looking at the C300 to reduce cost and at the current price of the C250 at 36K, my dream configuration just barely touches 50K. I am assuming the new C class will have a price increase of a few hundred to a thousand dollars. Still very expensive for a C class.

In case you didn't know, the 7" has a resolution of 800x480 while the 8.4" is 960 x540. Also, isn't linguatronic voice control only available with Command?

I don't see why ppl need 3G/4G connection. Doesn't everyone have a cellphone today?

According to my dealer, the base price for the c400 (in Canada ) is 50400! There are easily 16k worth of options available which I have on order, plus charges for metallic paint, freight and delivery. A fully loaded c400 in Canada is probably 70k plus tax. For me in Ontario that's another 13%.

Looks like the voice control also available on Garmin Navi.

Another forum member says in a different thread here that he was told the base price for the C400 in Canada is $51,400.

Whether it's $50,400 or $51,400, both are LOWER than the current Canadian base price of the W204 C350 4matic which is $52,800. I really don't understand all this "OMG, the new C-Class is so expensive!" reaction - if the reported prices for the W205 in Canada are accurate, Mercedes there has actually decreased the base price. This isn't a cheap car but when compared to the price of the nearest equivalent outgoing C-Class, it looks like pretty good value, at least in Canada. Hopefully, the same will be true south of the border.

I think they're just letting you know that airmatic also has agility select (which IIIRC has a couple of extra modes, even).

Personally, I think the ability to adjust even the standard suspension is cool.

The HUD display does display navigation, that is what swayed me. Plus I got every single option except rear side airbags, so what is an extra $900 at this point. lol

Hopefully someone can translate this better than Google, but it seems like Command Online is necessary for Carplay.
