It feels like rip-off when you consider it is being built here, no std sunroof and its a four banger. At least VW improved the value proposition with the new Passat. That said I'd be willing to bet there will be some big discounts if you are willing to wait long enough. I really need to buy a new car so I don't think I will wait much longer. Here's hoping there are some good deals on W204 / W212's around the corner. It is a beautifully styled car (with exception of the ipad) though.

2015 C-Class and GLA-Class Pricing Announced
Get ready to break out those checkbooks. Mercedes-Benz has announced the prices for its 2015 C- and GLA-Class models. You've got some time, though - until August 25.
That's when the C300 4MATIC and C400 4MATIC go on sale, starting at $40,400 and $48,590, respectively. The rear-wheel-drive C300 will hit dealerships in the first quarter of 2015 at a base price of $38,400.
According to the three-pointed star, "Much of the new safety equipment [that] first debuted on the new S-Class last year appears now in the new C-Class including COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, a radar-based system [that] can brake autonomously to avoid collisions or minimize their effects in combination with PRE-SAFE, which prepares the vehicle if a collision is imminent."

To be honest I don't want a big car like a E, A6 or 5 series. My c350 has grown to be too small for my needs. I am looking at competitor models like the s4, 335i & 335is which all have bigger interiors and meets my needs far as motor. So if someone is already looking in this price range, a c400 is right around there, even a little cheaper. I like to option my cars out so I already know that these cars will have 60k+ sticker prices.
Now it's the matter of what car I want c400 & c450, s4 or 335i & 335is. Now that mercedes has improved the interior room I think more people shopping like me will now consider the c400 as a true competitor.

Well I have to head down to the dealer and negotiate the money factor.... If we can't agree on a deal we're getting a 535i

You do know that the 5-series will get an interior refresh soon to match the rest of the BMW line-up. That's one of the reasons I did not jump on the great deals they are offering for the 5 series (plus the car is big). Still not a bad car. 535i motor > current E350 motor.

So if the base rate is high there really isn't much negotiating to be done as the dealers can't mark them down. The only solution is MSD.

Do you mind sharing what they are offering on the 5's? I just noticed that they recently almost doubled their volume for June as compared to last year and last month (something like +77%) and I was wondering why.

I was almost ready to get rid of the HUD an active headlights, but honestly at this point what am I saving? Yes MSRP came in a bit higher but when we're talking a $64k car saving a few thousand is only going to save me $30-50 a month. With a $1k car payment no one shoul be buying it if $50 a month throws everything off. You're buying too much car if that starins you.

At a $1000 car payment you should be in a E63 Amg S or something around that line. Even a c63 should be less than a $1000 a month.
EDIT: Never mind, E63 Amg S is over $1,000

If I were to get the new W205, I'd opt for the C400. With my preferred options it make sense to go to C400 (vs C300)
C400
Base - $48590
P01 Premium Package - $0
Lighting Package - $800
Hands Free Access - $250
Sport Package - $0
Rear View Cam - $460
Pano Roof - $1480
Shipping - $925
TOTAL : $52505
C300 4 MATIC
Base - $40400
P01 Premium Package - $2700
Lighting Package - $800
Hands Free Access - $250
Sport Package - $2500
Rear View Cam - $460
Pano Roof - $1480
Shipping - $925
TOTAL : $49515
So its going to be $52,505 MSRP for the c400 with my fav option which isn't bad in my opinion. If I wait till Winter 2015, I think there may be a chance for 4-5% price break to seal the deal with my local dealer which means cost is going to be around $50K.
I need a new car soon
BTW, I bought my 2008 C350 with pano roof for $41K back in Sept 2007. So I guess the C400 is a pretty significant price jump compared to my current car.

Now this does not compare directly.... first you can't get a pano roof on the 335 (at least according to the build configurator) that is about $1.5k. Also, to get the premium pkg on a BMW you also get leather so to even things out the interior pkg on the C would be needed (just to compare numbers of course). Another oddity is that you can't simply add a backup camera to the 335, you need to add the drivers assistance pkg to get it (just clicking the side/top view cam option pulls in the dirvers assist pkg ) and there you get the 360 camera and the parking assistant (adding another $970 to the C and the 360 deg camera is not currently avail).
Making the two builds similar feature for feature the C400 would come in at just about $1k less than the 335.

I guess the price increase somewhat makes sense... The "new" C class is no longer the entry MB...that belongs to the CLA. If the "new" C were priced as the current C...well then current C's will be sitting on the lot. Everything I've read so far seems to justify the price jump...but I guess we'll have to be the judge of that. I'm looking forward to September to see it up close and personal...I got one on order!!

Well, just to compare I built up a similarly configured 335i xdrive. Not suggesting anything, I was curious to see the difference and I thought that others might find it interesting as well. Bottom line, the 335 prices out at $55,225 (see attached build screen).
