2016 C-Class Change You Would Like To See

What changes and/or models would you like to see Mercedes made/add to the U.S. market?

I'll start. Going by the posts here, I think most would like to see:

RWD C400 in both Luxury and Sport trim.

4Matic C400 in Luxury trim.

RWD C300 NOW, not Feb.

9G transmission standard on all models.

C450 in RWD with optional AWD.

C-Class Wagon sold in the U.S.

Better looking standard wheels on the Luxury models.

Lower the ride height to alleviate the up on stilts look some models have.

I reiterate the desire for a Luxury choice on the C400, as well as....

A working and available 360 camera

Agility mode that remembers selection after turning off car

A choice of brown open pore wood trim

An "off" setting for exterior lights and for climate control

Blue-to-white fading "welcome home" lights on US models

Remote start

keyless go as a stand alone option. Expand interior colour choices to include maybe a dark grey and tan brown

integrate the screen into the dash/console.

lose the cheap plastic rings around the air vents. If they can't figurre how to make the treatment not look cheap, then fall back on the old flush mounted with a chrome ring from the clk.

Lose the cheapness of the plastic controls. It's a Mercedes, not a Toyota. Every single thing you touch or see should be not just functional but also emotionally appealing.

Just give me the c400 in RWD... if it wasn't AWD I would have already ordered one. The car is already too heavy but is quick. Make it lose 300-400 lbs by losing AWD and it would handle so much better, get better gas mileage and be even quicker...

Its hard for me to justify AWD when I literally have no need for it here in SoCal.

The AWD system doesn't 300-400lbs though.. I agree though, forcing 4matic is a mistake.

2020 CLA 250 4Matic Black
Working 360 Surround camera that also acts as a Dash Cam.
Intelligent drive on the C300 in Canada
Brighter ambient lighting because its not tacky bright as I would like
Adaptive Full Multi Focal LEDs like they have on the CLS
Orange rear turn signals LEDs
Heated rear seats.
AC outlet instead of 12V in the rear vent ashtray
Rear Illuminated door sills.
Brighter trunk illumination, this has always been an oversight with MB
More interior colour choices in both leather and Mtek

I was expecting to see some really off-the-wall comments here, but mostly, I actually agree with the above suggestions.

My own change, and I realize I may get killed for saying this...smaller engine
I would really take better fuel economy/environmental friendliness, and would be fully-happy doing 0-60 in 8-8.5 seconds, rather than 6.5s for that benefit. A diesel would be quite welcome as well for the aforementioned reasons.

Nothing since I'm waiting for my '15 to be built but if I had a suggestions I'd say add a standard sunroof, rear heated seat option and offer more interior and exterior color choices. And get rid of the lame-*** illuminated star option, lol.

Interesting article on Motor Trend about Mercedes' future plans:

They say:

Insiders liken the concept to Audi’s S models or Cadillac’s Vsport, and the first of these cars to appear in the U.S. will be the C450, due next year. It will replace the newly launched C400, and will feature a higher-output version of the twin-turbo V-6, plus sportier suspension, wheels, and tires.
Interesting if true.

A V6 Bi-Turbo badge on the c400. A little more headroom in the back with the pano roof. Rear lip spoiler like that which is on the W204 c350. Non run flat tires...

P.S. this forum reminds me of an old Simpsons episode where Homer designs his ideal car...I don't think it went so well :-)

I'd like to see a more refined and dramatically noise reduced version of the 4 cylinder diesel engines

I really have very few complaints with this car, but ....

1. Put an odometer on the same screen as the speedometer.
2. Have a one touch "Save" option for the radio/satellite presets rather than the overly involved menu system.
3. Remember Agility Select choice on start-up.
4. Enable Sport+ as a steering option on Agility Select.
5. Program memory functions into the fob so the seats will adjust when the car is opened with a given fob ... rather than having to manually depress and hold the memory button.
6. Have the navigation system show posted speed limits. It currently does not have this very common, and useful, option.

These are all related to the electronics. Interestingly, Consumer Reports has stated that the majority of user complaints are now related to electronic rather than mechanical issues.

2016 C450
Heated steering wheel.
Rear windshield wipers.
Rear windshield washers.
Spare tire! ( I know it saves weight, but peace of mind is worth more IMO)
Stock All Season Tires for 19inch wheels. (Some of us actually need this as an option)
Bigger glovebox (just complaining for the sake of it now lol)
Better USB cable for the iPhone ( my car is 2 weeks old and have already replaced what they provided, because connector was already coming lose)
Remote starter... This is a must for most of America....(looking for aftermarket solution, help with advise if you can please)
Well that's all that comes to mind ATM, sure more will pop up as I drive it more.

Thanks for listening to my 2 cents worth haha

I've never had a sedan with a rear windshield wiper or washer. It's rare ... I know the Porsche Cayman uses one on their rear window, but that's steeply raked.

I've been through some really heavy downpours with the C300, and visibility out of the rear window has always been fine.

My most important wish would be to go back to standard tires plus a spare. even the inflatable one like in my GLK 350.

Does anyone know when the 2016 model designation will begin? I had once heard that it would begin with the C300 RWD models.

Are you sure its not a setting buried in the computer menus somewhere?

I ask this because my W203 had this ability. I had to go through some kind of crazy key-on-off-door-open-close dance to enable it, but it was there.

It's not covered in the written or online manuals, and I haven't found it in any of the vehicle settings menus, sub menus, or sub sub menus. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think it can be done.

The seat and mirror memory settings are linked to the fob. If its not doing it in your car its defective.

Very informative first post, lol. Stan, of the cars I've driven with this feature (not Mercedes) I've had to set the seats, mirrors and steering wheel then put the car in reverse and readjust the mirrors...not sure if this is the proper cadence in the C (doubtful) but it's worth a shot.

Remote start.
Also rear seat heaters and rear row climate controls, both available in Canada. Sometimes I wonder what manufacturers are thinking, there are spot in the US as cold if not colder than Canada! Why is it that they don't offer the same cold weather goodies here, has anyone in Germany ever heard of MN, WI, ND, SD, VT,ME and Montana,? The population of the US snow belt is higher than Canada's.

I relooked through the manuals and I like you was not able to find where you can link the memory to a fob I thought I had read it somewhere.
I thought it was part of the keyless go system. I'll have to ask the dealer when I get mine delivered.
