Sales Consultant/New Owner - Fire away with ?s

Just introducing myself here. I am a Sales Consultant in the NW Region and a new owner of the W205. Please feel free to fire away with any questions that you might have about the new car or Mercedes in general. I would prefer questions to stay away from pricing as independent locations, regions and different circumstances will effect that.

Thanks in advance!

1. I was told that 225x45 snows in either 17 or 18" sizes will fit the OEM staggered wheels on the W205, and that different sized snow tires on front and rear are not required. True?
2. Any way to get the odometer to display with the speedometer on the same screen?

Thanks.

First post from long time lurker!

MBSeller - I've ordered a pretty much maxed out C300 Luxury package (I am looking for a forgiving ride and have virtually no interest in driving the car to anything close to its limits, hence the reason I didn't go with Sport Package). The one package I didn't include was Airmatic. Why? Well, I don't need Airmatic's load leveling capability, nor do I ever have to raise the car to account, e.g., for traveling on snow.

In light of the foregoing, would you recommend it solely for the purpose of further smoothing out the car's ride? There doesn't seem to be much of a consensus on the issue, particularly given its cost and post-warranty repair costs.

Is the easy exit/entry feature supposed to move the seat in addition to the steering wheel? I can only make the steering wheel move when the feature is active. The seat doesn't move, even though the owners manual (both printed and in the COMAND system) say the seat should move back as the steering wheel moves up.

1. with 17" you need 225/50 and 18" uses 225/45, and yes they will both fit a staggered setup, you might get a tad stretch on the rear wheels but it will not affect performance.

2. afraid not.

Thanks ... that confirms what my service manager told me. I'm trying to avoid buying another set of wheels and tire pressure sensors, so I think I'll just order a set of 225/45x18" snows and have them mounted on the OEM wheels.

Too bad about the lack of an odometer reading with the speedometer ... there's even room for it on the bottom of the display. A minor inconvenience.

OP just started another thread about a tire recall, but has not responded to a single question on this thread. Huh?

I will respond to all questions with the correct information when It is gathered. I'm away from work Monday/Tuesday.

Not sure what you're implying?

If you are leasing the car get it for sure. The residualized price is outweighed by the advantages of the system. If buying to own for many years keep in mind these aren't your 2010 and older AIRMATIC systems. Less moving components, reliability issues are far from what they used to be.

In regards to the 360 camera...I won't speculate...but I will inquire. Assume it will be on the 16s. I will find out more information tomorrow.

What is the volume of the trunk? Most web sites, including MBUSA, list cargo/trunk capacity as 17 cubic feet. The new C Class brochure say the cargo capacity is 12.6 cubic feet. I think the old C Class (W204) was 12.6 cubic feet. Is this an error in the brochure? Here is a link to the brochure.

I was surprised that there were no answers to several questions that were asked in response to your post. A simple explanation is all that was needed.

Are the brakes of the sport package larger than the base model? If not, would it be safe to assume I could mount 17 inch snow tires and wheels on a 19in sport package model?

Congratulations on your new C!!

Any official word on if car play will be similar to iphone set up now? In other words a kit retrofitted with a ton of labor?

Will it require command or audio 20 or either? Thanks

Is Mercedes aware that the "Radio" button text on the center console is not horizontally aligned with the other two buttons flanking either side ("Navi" and "Media")? This has popped up in a few videos and photos, but not all (some press photos show good alignment)

Example of misaligned button text:

Another example - video (start at around 8:39):

Example of good alignment:

May be a minor quibble at the end of the day, but it may speak to quality/attention to details.

Hey!

Do you know if a MB dealer can get the LEDs to start from blue to white? As opposed to what you get which seems to be just white. tx!

In regards to the radio button, looks like it was an issue on preproduction cars. Mine along with countless others are aligned correctly.

He meant the welcome eyebrow LED on top of the head light, some european car when turned on, the eye brow led start blue and a few second later turn white. Plenty of youtube videos of that.

Any idea on this? If I can't use 17in snows on the Sport Pack it will rule it out for me unfortunately.
