What did you pay? - Australia
Hi All
Newbie here, keen to understand what others paid for their C250 so that I can possibly get a better price.
My order includes the following options:
- Metallic paint
- Exclusive Pack
I am entitled to a Corporate Discount via my employer which I believe shaved 3-4% of RRP.
The drive away price quoted to me without any further discounting or negotiating was $78,783.00 AUD.
How does this compare to others' pricing? Does anyone know what margin the dealers have to play with in Australia on a 250? I'm assuming 10-12%?

My vehicle with all the options (as per sig) will cost me around 80K. This will be a lease vehicle for work, so the extra 10K in tax that comes in on top of that purchase price is a write-off for us.
I don't think I got any particularly great deal to tell the truth. I only pushed a little on the price of the Airmatic and a better lease rate.

Sorry.. I should've added that the above excluded the GST and the LCT tax components. Didn't have an appropriate breakdown of those costs since mine are bundled into a more expensive car.

You had me worried there for a second... With the GST and LCT it comes out at LRP so 0% discount based on the line items you've quoted me.

Even with the taxes I'm not seeing over 78k on road the way the dealer quoted it on my invoice for a 250 BT with exclusive pack. Retail drive away price on Redbook for my combo was $95,971 although that seemed a tad high because I don't think I saved 6 grand.
I doubt there's a lot to be saved for cars that are not on the dealer inventory. Demand is obviously still outstripping supply so it's not like the dealers are over a barrel yet on the W205. At the time I ordered he tried to sell me an inventory vehicle and hinted at the fact we could strike a very good deal. In the end the car I wanted was a special order and he wasn't haggling much on price after that.
Saving a couple of grand here or there is not so important when on a business lease, but it's certainly going to be more of an issue on a private purchase.

I was fortunate to score an invite to the C Class launch at Darling Harbour back in October or November - I can’t remember exactly when, but I was told by the reps that MB has no intention of bringing the V6 to OZ in the foreseeable future. The reasoning being that MB considers that the T4 is such a great motor that there would be no demand or need for the V6. As an alternative the guy suggested the C300 Hybrid. I told the dealer that I’m going to wait and see how things ‘pan out’ as I’m more interested in the C400 / C450 'Sport' whichever of the two finally makes it to OZ if at all.
Following on, this is what I was quoted:

Originally I ordered in August for the following spec:
Obsidian Black
AMG Pack
Vision Pack
Command Pack
Comfort Pack
List price was a bit 91k, which final nego was pending on trade in. Ended up selling my old car private so this ended up cancelled. With the new C-Class being hot cakes, you would get very little discount, may be 2-3k at the very most. Delivery for August order was Jan delivery.
Ended up taking a demo with 1000kms for 91k, but with additional digital tv, airmatic suspension and air fragrance. Saved me waiting for months, been driving it since Sept.
Once all the toys add up, it does add up pretty quickly. Value wise I still think C200 is the best in terms of what is included in the base model.

I ordered in September. Expected delivery date Jan 30.
Ordered a c250 petrol in polar white with cranberry leather
865 - Digital TV
CM1 - Comand Package
P21 - Air Balance Package
SC1 - Seat Comfort Package
SP1 - AMG Line
VP1 - Vision Package
On the road for $85,000 incl.
I'm not sure I got a huge deal but considering I got exactly what I wanted and had to factory order that's not too bad.
Also get complimentary servicing for 75k under corporate and airport parking. (Was free with my c204 but now just discounted)

Nice car. There's a few of us now on this forum who appear to be on the same order/delivery schedule. The 75k servicing deal sounds great
Doesn't look like anyone in Oz is making any substantial savings. Certainly not like in the US but then again having an extra 300 million consumers in the market helps that cause .

Sounds like a pretty good deal, the options add up to around 13.7k, so you got around 4k discount.
These cars are like hot cakes with waitlist, so no one will do massive 'deals' like the one I got on my last C250.

In any rate dealers are unscrupulously charging what they want as dealer delivery. Max rec delivery is $2500. I guarantee MBsydney (I single them out as they are a factory dealer) won't have anything lower than $4000 on their quotes price lists or anywhere else. Just another way of aiding the perceived price and consequently making you think you're getting a better discount.
Underhanded tactics but legal!

As an update to my original post, my final C250 build includes:

- Corporate Program (Free servicing for 3 yrs/75,000 kms)
Factory order, arriving next week. I managed to negotiate a drive away price of $74,500.

Look exactly the same as the US, except our base model is much higher specced. So there are only 4-5 additional packages to spec for.
The South Africa build quality seems okay, better than the US. Still, would prefer the German build, which Aus is only getting on the estate.

Great looking car man. Got to be happy with that. Those red AMG calipers with the black paint looks awesome! Hey, tell me, with the privacy glass is the back tinted as well?

The rear is a tinted privacy glass. The front just ask the dealer to throw it in.
The calipers are painted, the stock cast iron finish is to be honest, awful. Thought they would give a proper red caliper cover as part of the AMG package.
