2015 C300 and note 3 internet connection

Hi all

For the past 4 months since getting my 2015 C300 ( premium pkg and sport Canadian edition) I have been trying to see how i can use my phone (Samsung Note 4) to access the internet... i have no problem connecting the bluetooth for phone i.e. i can use all the calling and answering functions as well as access to the phone's directory)... however i am not able to use the phone for internet connection via the MB interface. If i go into the internet option in the MB interface.. it will just ask me "do you want to search for bluetooth phone" or it will show my Note 4 as a paired device but still wouldnt let me access the internet in the car. Is there some pkg i need to get as a prerequisite to use my phone for data..? I am living in Canada if this make any difference. Thanks in advance.

The only way the car can provide an internet connection is through MBrace which is not available yet in Canada. However your phone can provide an internet connection to the car if you enable tethering on the phone. This will allow you to at least play with MB Apps using your data plan.

Need to enable Bluetooth tethering under hotspot settings.

Or you can use USB tethering as well, which is much quick from my experience.

I had the same issue with able to connect bluetooth for phone and streaming, but unable to use internet.

This is how I managed to get it working on my Samsung "Note 3"

I'm sure you don't need the Hotspot turned on. If your car is using Bluetooth tethering its not using wifi.

You dont need wireless hotspot turned on, but the bluetooth hotspot sharing must be on.

Thanks for all the reply... apparently my note 4 doesn't have the bluetooth tethering option at all in the Samsung "Tethering and Mobile Hotspot" menu.. only the "mobile hotspot:

wonder if I will need another app to get this enabled.

I have the exact same problem. I had a 2016 B200 as a courtesy car and as soon I connected my phone to it, it asked me if I would like to connect to my phone's wifi hotspot. I wish my 2015 C300 would do the same

I enable the tether function on my phone and it allows my 2015 to use to use the phone's data. This is not a physical connection between the phone and car - no cable involved. Tethering is not the same as wifi hotspot either as the car doesn't know how to connect to a hotspot.

Like the OP, my Note 4 does not do bluetooth tethering. I can use the USB tethering but it is also extremely slow / useless. I wish there was a way to upgrade the software so that it could use my phone's wifi hotspot.

I tethered my Galaxy S5 via USB. COMAND 2.0 no MM head unit. You can get on the web but its is pitifully slow.

Anyway the fun things while tethered:.
Google thinks you are in Germany and wants to install an app which it can't do.
Pornhub.com was the only site that really worked well, slow to browse but the vids played OK as they DL to your phone and run locally from there.

I've been meaning to tether again and hook my laptop up to the hotspot as well and see what I can see with Zenmap and Wireshark. Maybe we can find access to the CPU and overclock it?

I can tether via BT but not reliable. I have to religiously reboot my phone every time before I get into car to have 100% success tether rate and that's just too much hassle for traffic camera and may be tunein radio.

Does iPhone folks has better experience? I want to switch to iPhone so bad as I have not had good experience with any German cars and HU pairing with Andorid over who know many years now.
